The Water Club’s Immersion Spa

This weekend, I was invited out to the new Water Club, a signature hotel by Borgata in Atlantic City, to experience their fabulous hotel (and even more fabulous spa).

As a beauty editor, I get to experience beauty treatments pretty often, so it’s often best for me to judge a spa based on their signature treatments…here, I was in for a treat. There were tons of completely unique and innovative ones to immerse myself in.

Interestingly, this spa at The Water Club is actually CALLED the Immersion Spa! For those not yet familiar, it is a 2-story wonderland of treats for the face, body, and mind, many of which you may think involved a secret jaunt to the Far East.

I must say, the experience was unique and exceptional from beginning to end.

As soon as I checked in, I was shown to a ladies lounge, where I was allowed to sip a tea specifically chosen to complement my spa appointment. Then, I donned a cushy robe and slippers, and lounged about until my tech called me for my appointment.

I was scheduled for Thai Sacred Soak, Bath Ritual, which sounded exotic from the very description, and once in the treatment room, I sort of felt like I had escaped on a trip to Thailand. (Being that I am addicted to Thai food, that wouldn’t have been a bad thing at all.)

I can’t even call it a scrub or a massage – it’s pretty much a complete and total body experience. It started with a coconut full body scrub, and I mean FULL, with a scrub that smelled just like Mounds bars. And then, after the scrub, I was left to soak in a floral bath for a nice long warm stretch, and then, after the bath got an intense acupressure massage with lemongrass essence. The entire treatment was about two hours long, and by the end, I felt simultaneously relaxed and rejuvenated.

This also marked the first time I had received a massage from a male (well, in spa-terms!), and there really is a difference. If you love great amounts of pressure in your massage, it’s definitely something to try…it loosens all those kinks.

Oh, and at the end, before being sent back to the lounge area – I was given chocolate!!! Dark chocolate with ginger – sexy, energizing, and enriching – just like my treatment! I am in love. I have to say – and take this from a girl who gets spa treatments pretty much weekly – Immersion Spa is pretty much as good as it gets.

Bento Beauty Project: Mayi & Penny

It still surprises me when I find out that there are ladies out there who are hesitant to dive into the world of makeup. Though, I could understand that experimenting can turn into an expensive task and, oftentimes, one would find it hard to get someone to show them how to do certain things like applying eye makeup and such.

One of the great things I like whenever I do this thing I’d like to call Bento Beauty Project is that I get to share with them a few of the tricks I’ve learned along the way. I was, after all, in their position once upon a time. Had it not been because of my modeling stint when I was younger then I wouldn’t even have explored makeup application further.

I’m quite happy to have found willing subjects for my mini-makeup sessions. It’s like playing with a real, live Barbie. Yea, even if it can be a bit tiring (esp if you’re doing more than one face), it still feels like play. It was so much fun!

I love how the pink eyeshadow suited her. And for those of you who were wondering how the NARS Super O would look on fair skin, you can check out how it looks on her. She has fair skin with yellow undertones. Mayi had really short eyelashes so what I did was a double coat mascara. The EA Ceramide then topped it off with Artistry Waterproof Mascara. I made sure that I fill in her eyebrows, too. I also did a bit of contouring on her cheeks but not too much since I still want the soft wispy flush which will match her over-all look.

Penny wanted to try a more darker eye makeup so I did a conservative smokey eye on her. I love the effect of the green and grey e/s combination. I wonder how she’d look like if I did the full number on her. Perhaps I can convince her to try it next time.

Photos were taken without flash, under fluorescent. Makeup session came after a short skincare product trial. I’ll tell you ladies about that one soon.

Asian Beauty, Sam Oh

Sam Oh was the host for the Sunsilk Life Can’t Wait Event that I attended a few days ago. While everyone else was busy photographing the three image models (Maja Salvador, Heart Evangelista and Marian Rivera) I found myself standing two feet away from the host, hence, allowing me to take this photo of her.

Isn’t she pretty? Anyway, Sam mentioned that she’s been meaning to update her blog (she failed to mention its URL) but haven’t had the opportunity to do so. Too busy, she said. I wish I had the chance to ask her a bit about beauty stuff. Ah, well. Another time, perhaps? Hehe.

This multi-lingual (Korean, English and Filipino) Korean beauty was the host of the now defunct Rated Oh! on Solar Entertainment’s ETC cable channel for eight seasons and a columnist of The Manila Times. (Source: Wikipedia)
