L’Oreal’s Beauty Barometer

I have heard of the Lipstick Index, but the Beauty Barometer was new to me…until I realized it’s essentially the same thing!
Basically, L’Oreal commissioned a usage survey, asking 4,000 women in the US and in 4 European nations about what they used and why.
The results are very interesting! Essentially, women have changed the shades they usually purchase – the look now is more “natural,” but are still using their favorite products.
Here’s some other results:
– Half of women think wearing makeup at work makes them appear more in control, and in result, gives them an advantage
– 40% of women are wearing …read more

I have yet to see Twilight, or even read the books, but I have just gained a little extra incentive. Had I known what I was talking about, I may better appreciate the following tidbit from Grazia Daily:
Twilight is launching its own make-up range, and yep, we’re talking about the film! It’s already been used on the next installment The Twilight Saga: New Moon – which has just finished shooting – and will hopefully be on sale by the end of this year. Made by the quirky DuWop, the cult US brand that bought us Lip Venom, we hear they’ll …read more

Dr. Nicholas Perricone’s cosmeceutical skin care line has had a makeover. Out are the medical looking jars and bottles, and in is a sleek new look for each product and a new name, PerriconeMD Cosmeceuticals.
PerriconeMD’s Lynda Berkowitz, VP of Sales, tells WWD the reason for making these changes to the aesthetic of the system: “It used to be that she relied on the recommendation of her dermatologist or aesthetician. Now she has the confidence to make her own decision.” Good for you!
The line now is divided into color coded categories (which I think is a GREAT change for the …read more

We are getting to the point where I always start getting super into Project Runway – I am starting to care about these folks and the major flakes are gone. But I can’t really say that, I was VERY sad to see Chris gone last week – I thought he was a very good designer and pretty good television too. And well our Dallas boy, Marion – I wasn’t happy to see him go either, thats for sure. Well I guess I am just starting to care about these folks, and that always makes good reality television, …read more
Should You Use Glaucoma Drug to Lengthen Your Lashes?

Derivatives of the active ingredient in Lumigan, a glaucoma drug that has a beautiful side effect – lengthening of your lashes – have been showing up over the last couple of years in the beauty trade, most notably in Jan Marini’s Age Intervention Eyelash. The FDA became concerned about the non-prescription use of this prescription drug and embargoed the supply last year, and seized more of the old supply this week. Also there are several products with a derivative of Lumigan in some relatively expensive products, that have been among those named in a lawsuit earlier this month …read more

One of my very favorite polish brands, Dashing Diva, has the Think Pink collection out now – and they will donate 50% of profits from the sales of these polishes throughout October!
Dashing Diva is really wonderful nail polish – the colors are beautiful and the polish is great quality – and at $8 a pop, its very reasonably priced. The downside is that you can’t find the colors in the promotion online, they are only in their salons. Hopefully you are lucky enough to have a Dashing Diva salon somewhere near you! Sadly, I am not lucky like …read more

My beloved Project Runway judge, Michael Kors, has manufactured a cutey little makeup bag, with 5% of its $38 price tag going to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. This bag measures 8″ x 6″ x 2.5″, and you have to look to see it, but the zipper pull is a pink metal/enamel breast cancer ribbon.
Im putting up a picture – just so I can get you fired up about Project Runway coming back like I am! Wednesday, November 14th – 10pm – are you ready??????

Not often do you see a company who has mastered viral advertising as well as Dove has – or has so many advertisements that are worthy of attention even, but here is Dove’s newest advertisement, called Onslaught:
Check out Dove’s Campaign For Real Beauty – a campaign that is embraced by so many of us “real people.” And for an extra treat, check out the gorgeous Pascalle at Hot Mama Daily, and her video appraisal of one of Dove’s newest deodorant offerings, Ultimate Clear.

Can you BELIEVE it’s October already? How time flies. As is always my focus in October, partially because I am a “passionately pink” kind of gal, but mostly because it is important for you and I to keep on top of our beautiful bodies, I plan to promote breast cancer awareness. I do love pink (raaaally, I do), and I take this time every year to stock up on things I need (kitchen wares, cute t-shirts, tomato soup…yum), but as well try out some things that I have had my eyeballs on who have convinced me …read more
