The idea of a good body butter is one that provides hydration hours after your shower – this one is loaded with essential oils and completely gets the job done, but also smells amazing, and helps support my fantasy that I’m anywhere but here – as in a tropical oasis. Hilton’s brand of spa-quality products launches with two products, Active Sculpting Body Treatment and Firming Face and Neck Treatment. These products have been developed by a Swiss skin care company and use thermal technology that allows them to self heat and self cool according to the needs of the treatment. If you have never used these self heating/cooling types of products, they really are neat. The heat will open your pores and allow better absorbtion and the cool will close your pores and leave your skin looking more refined. Neat stuff.

These products aren’t quite as expensive as I would think they might be, since they are sporting the Hilton name and all the luxury that goes with it. Watch for them on HSN!

Alas, thats not my reality – what’s a girl to do when the summer is rapidly approaching and she has “winter feet?” Well, there are all sort of great products out there to moisturize, but nothing works better to get your feet in “summer shape” than a physical method of dry skin removal.

There are plenty of different paddles, scrapers and blades on the market that get the job done (and some get it done well), but they can take a toll on you by stabbing you – (if this has ever happened to you, you will understand), scraping your knuckles (ouch!), cutting you (!!) and just generally, if you have a big job to do like I usually do, it wears you out. Enter the Artemis Woman Heel Smoother:

This battery operated gadget is ergonomically designed to fit your hand and help you reach your heels without having to resort to contortioning (is that a word? lol). Two tips are included to start you off – one is a dome shaped tip that will do the bulk of the work, and the other one is smaller and pointed to get to any more detailed and/or sensitive areas you might need to get to. These tips are made of a very hard aluminum oxide crystal, and are porous, like a pumice stone, but much, much harder (read: longer lasting). This makes pretty short work of getting your feet ready for sandals or to go naked. My best piece of advice when using this, or any other callous remover, is to use it just after your shower or bath. Your dead skin is plumped up with water and just sitting there waiting to jump off your foot, all it needs is just a little coaxing. Laser treatments are so popular these days, they can remove age spots, sun spots, wrinkles and unwanted hair. I really have never given these things too much of a second thought – I thought they were pretty safe, and I guess they are for the most part, but if they are botched, they are really botched. Here are a couple pictures, the first one is of a botched sun spot removal, and the second one is a botched hair removal. Read the accompanying article at the ABC web site if you didn’t see the story on Good Morning America last week. And check out all the pictures. Yikes.

I had a nice chat today with Fiona Costello, proprietress of the UK’s BeautySwapShop, a fairly new place where you can meet new friends, chit chat about your favorite beauty products and maybe even swap around a few goodies.
