In the announcement, Purple Lab NYC “creatix” Karen Robinovitz tells the story of last year meeting new friends Malaak, Andrea, and Hayley who lost their good friend to Triple Negative Breast Cancer, a rare and aggressive subtype.
So, when I got an email they were doing something new for October – Breast Cancer Awareness Month – I was all over it.

In the announcement, Purple Lab NYC “creatix” Karen Robinovitz tells the story of last year meeting new friends Malaak, Andrea, and Hayley who lost their good friend to Triple Negative Breast Cancer, a rare and aggressive subtype. Her friends went on to form the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundationsm to bring awareness to and support research for this subtype – it’s an amazing organization that Karen now is an avid believer in.

SWAC (Sealed with a Cure) was created by Purple Lab with this in mind: It’s a gorgeous pink sheen with subtle flecks of gold (real gold!!!). The color is called Nancy – the legacy of TNBCF – and it comes with a love note telling her personal story.

The gloss is formulated with all things for wellness and TLC – Echinacea, a purple cone flower that is used as an immune system booster; Mangosteens, a tropical superfruit, packed with antioxidants (it has a tangy, sweet flavor and it’s indigenous to the Sunda Islands and Indonesia and it happens to be Marc Jacobs’ favorite fruit – Karen said she heard him talking about it once when eavesdropping on a convo in his showroom!); Vanilla, the aroma therapy scent used for depression (Sloan Kettering happens to be the first medical organization that factualized the use of aroma therapy for medicinal purposes); and Vitamin C and E because if you’re going through chemotherapy, your lips get very dry.

It is soothing, nourishing, and absolutely delicious. Even if you are battling breast cancer, I want you to feel beautiful and express your femininity – so important when you’re fighting a disease that attacks the feminine part of us. So enjoy, pucker up, and think of Nancy and giving back to fight this disease and cure it… FOREVER!

I get tons and tons of pitches a day about BCA products – and most of them I think are just hog-wash for companies to exploit a disease to make money. But not in this case – I totally believe in this mission, as well as Karen and Purple Lab and everything they do – and I think the product looks pretty awesome too! So, please go buy it – it’s $18.50 – a pretty good price to look hot AND make a difference!

How time flies. As is always my focus in October, partially because I am a “passionately pink” kind of gal, but mostly because it is important for you and I to keep on top of our beautiful bodies, I plan to promote breast cancer awareness. I do love pink (raaaally, I do), and I take this time every year to stock up on things I need (kitchen wares, cute t-shirts, tomato soup…yum), but as well try out some things that I have had my eyeballs on who have convinced me to take the plunge by donating part of their profits to breast cancer research. Great products, great causes, right?

If you see something great that you think we should know about, please feel free to let me know by leaving a comment, or shooting me an email (christina@b5media.com). There is so much great pink in the world, and so little time to cover it all.

Also, I always do an October donation to Susan G. Komen for the Cure (see our Passionately Pink for the Cure effort from last year) so this month, I will donate $1 for every comment left on eBeautyDaily during this month, so please come out of the woodwork and say hi if you have never done so before, ok? It’s for a great cause – and I do love to hear from you!

If you wish to donate directly to breast cancer research/support causes, you might look into one of these highly rated charities:

You bet! And it is always a great thing when I have an excuse to do it, cause you know I am passionate about my pink! This year The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is launching Passionately Pink for the Cure, a fundraising and educational program that will breathe some new life into their mission – finding a cure for breast cancer.

So what do you have to do to join the fun? That’s pretty easy – you pick a day to wear pink, try to get all your friends and co-workers to do the same, and most importantly you make a $5 (or whatever amount feels right to you) to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. After all, this is what its all about – raising funds to support the mission.

I have formed a team for eBeautyDaily, and have chosen Monday, October 16 to participate, and I hope you will join me! I have set a modest goal to raise $1000, and although I may well spend that in supportive pink goodies this month, I am going to make a donation straight to the foundation, where I know my funds will be put to good use. I want to dedicate my effort to my dear, dear friend Selina Colwell, who is the most beautiful woman I know, and is a breast cancer survivor working tirelessly in support of breast cancer eradication efforts. Love you my dear girlfriend!

Have you all noticed the plethora of pink products out there this year? My mother and I were at Bed, Bath & Beyond this past weekend and saw the “breast cancer pink” KitchenAid Mixers, blender, knife set – and tons of other bakeware all fashioned in pink, and I hope donating a significant percentage of their profits towards Breast Cancer research or awareness. Anyway, you know I fell in love, but that is better left to talk about at somewhere like Cooking-Gadgets, I suppose. The beauty folks have come out in full force this year with tools, implements and who-knows-what-all in pink, and I hope to show you something new each day this month.

So I am starting out with this precious tweezer from Esthetics Plus:

During October, Esthetic Plus is generously donating a portion of profits from the sales of the Velvet Soft Touch Slanted Tweezers w/Non-Slip Grip in pink to the National Breast Cancer Coalition (NBCC). NBCC, the largest breast cancer advocacy group in the United States, educates the public about breast cancer by encouraging early detection, educating the public about the disease, and supporting scientific research to find a cure.

These tweezers are $19 each, a very reasonable price to pay for good tweezers, and are available through the Esthetic Plus web site. Any Esthetic Plus fans out there?

Ok, riddle me this – whats better than a killer lightweight hairdryer? Yep, a killer lightweight Tourmaline hair dryer. Whats better than a killer lightweight Tourmaline hair dryer? A killer lightweight PINK Tourmaline hair dryer, of course!! And what is better that THAT? A killer pink Tourmaline hair dryer that, when you purchase it, the manufacturer will donate part of the purchase price to a great cause – you guessed it – breast cancer research. Can you think of any reason NOT to get one – and get one in a hurry before they are gone? I couldn’t. And couldn’t resist it myself.

I always find one pink item every year at this time (October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month) that I just crave. Last year, do you remember what it was? Boy I do. Those awesome Pink Wellies. MMMM! I can rationalize spending $100 on a pair of rain boots (do you know how much rain we have here in Texas? Um…not much) when they are PINK and part of the profits go to Breast Cancer Research. I have mentioned before, one of my dearest friends, Selina, is a stage 3 breast cancer survivor, and seeing her go through what she has gone through makes me so happy whenever I can support that cause.

This Hot Tools Professional Tourmaline hair dryer sells for $79.00, and has the latest features in hair dryer technology:

Not only is the UltraLite(tm) Tourmaline(tm) Tools Dryer designed as a tool of hope, it makes hair look healthy and shiny, dries faster, and fights germs and bacteria. Its Pro-Moisture System(tm), with Tourmaline and direct IONIC® Technology, leaves hair radiant and soft while cutting drying time by up to 50% and eliminating frizz. Nano Silver particles embedded in the housing act as a natural bacteriostat, creating a zone of protection by killing germs on contact.

Honestly, I thought – that has to be a bunch of hooey. Really. How much can hair dryer technology change? Well, it has. My hair, honestly, feels great after drying it with this hair dryer. I let my hair dry naturally most of the time, because I can really tell how dry it gets when I blow dry normally. It gets frizzy and just feels worn out. Not so with this one. My hair feels soft and is shiny and truly does feel like it has had some sort of moisturizing treatment – it is really different. The dryer has high and low settings, hot and warm settings and a cool shot button (which is used for setting in a curl or a shape by quickly cooling down the warm hair while you hold it in the proper position). It is also very lightweight, which is especially nice for professionals, as well as people like me who have a combination of a mass of very thick hair that takes forever to dry, and carpal tunnel syndrome that makes holding heavy things in your fingers terribly painful after a short period of time.

Did I mention I love this hair dryer? Try it, you will love it too!!
