I was shocked to learn recently that some of my – very knowledgeable – friends do not know what threading is!
I realized, then, that for some reason, it is only done and appreciated by a niche of us – and I wanted to remedy that, because it’s a great option for so so many people who are interested in hair removal.
Threading is an ancient form of hair removal that is just now getting more popular in West Culture that basically yanks hair out from the root using a single piece of thread. You mostly see it used on the face, …read more
Tutorial: How to Shape Your Brows

Beauty experts will tell you that the eyes are the window to the soul – but let me add something to that.
Unruly, bushy, sloppy brows are like having a film of dew on said window so deep that you cannot see a jet plane about to crash straight into your living room.
Seriously, brows shape your face, and if your brows don’t have shape, it’s worse than split ends and smeared eyeliner all rolled into one.
Whether you have a uni-brow or just brows in need of a shaping, I think this video below may help. In it, makeup artist Vinnetta Scrivo …read more

Sephora has recently launched their “Sephora Favorites” collection, and it’s a bombastic (apologies for using that phrase, but it applies) array at a quality value.
I’m probably at some point going to gush about a lot of the offerings, but right now, I’m all about Blink, Winks & Brows, a limited edition set including deluxe samples of of some of their favorite eye essentials, which, shockingly enough – coincide with some of MY faves!

1. When tweezing brows, hold the tip or slant of the tweezer against the skin the whole time as you tweeze going in the direction of hair growth. By keeping the tweezer against the skin, you keep away the ouch factor.
2. Avoid applying …read more
Condition your lashes as you would your hair

Recently, I received a sample of Dea Bella Eyelash Conditioner, with the promise that if I used it for two weeks, my lashes would be conditioned, less brittle, and grow faster. The same was alleged to be true for brows.
Now, I did not try it on my brows (they are thick enough!!!), but i was intrigued by the lash promise. Right now, the big trend is fully, longer lashes – all over the Fashion Week runways, girls were wearing vapid extensions – if I could make these results NATURALLY, that would pretty much change life as I know it.

So, if you live in a major metropolitan city – or not – you may or may not be dating a metrosexual.
My best friend’s guy has been known to get his brows threaded before every special occasion so that they are perfectly shaped, and my baby-faced little brother will never go to bed before well-moisturizing from his toes to the tips of his fingers.
When is it too much? And when is it just…good manners?
The truth is, male grooming is sometimes just good manners: Neanderthal man is long gone, the time when male body odor was the only fragrance required is …read more
