hisslipglossThat doesn’t mean it’s not STILL a beauty bag staple!

So, I was very excited to learn about the new Hiss Good Nite lip gloss.
It’s a shimmery pink shade that is delicate but still sexy and has a very kissable peppermint scent: Even the packaging is adorable!

Essie’s Spring shades are fresh and exciting!

Float into Spring with ethereal tones and goddess-like silhouettes.

The style of the season embarks on a journey of flesh-toned palettes and free-flowing fabrics. Essie’s new Spring 2009 color collection captures the femininity of the season with a fresh, hopeful attitude.

This season, there was an air of elegant practicality with an emphasis on expertly cut classics. Relaxed trousers and draping dresses were matched with cascading ruffles and comfy knits. The runways were awash in translucent fabrics and grounded hues, and designers encouraged hopefulness with pops of lively colors amidst must-have nudes.

The Essie Spring 2009 collection compliments the season’s dreaminess with a mixed palette of soft red, beige and blue, pinky coral, fuchsia and petal rose – each named to inspire the newness and hopefulness of Spring.

“This was a season of classic hues,” says Essie Weingarten, president and founder of Essie Cosmetics, Ltd. “Last Fall’s potent colors gave way to softer, muted tones for Spring. I created this collection to flatter that feeling of Spring and gave each shade a feel-good name.”

Essie’s Spring 2009 Color Collection:

Eternal Optimist – Spiced Tea Rose

Flawless – Cherry Blossom Pink

Status Symbol – Feisty Hot Pink

One of a Kind – Poppy Red Kiss

Lacquered Up – Red Hot Crimson

Mesmerize – Royal va-va Blue

Getting organized

When one is fortunate enough to have three daily columns, they should really attempt not to, via sheer laziness, blow it.

Maintenance of said workload is dependent on one being steadfast in their schedule, their tasks, and their daily responsibilities.

And still, when someone is a girlie girl who loves new toys…even with the best of intentions, this goes right out the window!

cosmeticorganizer1.jpgThis past weekend, Lori Greiner sent me her spinning mirrored cosmetic organizer.

Now, I have had many such devices in the past…but as someone who receives boxes and boxes of cosmetics daily, it’s super easy for even the best of products to get overloaded very quickly. This though was finally something that could meet the challenge. (The challenge being, well, me.)

The way this works is that, like the earth, it spins on its axis - and each of the two doored compartments are mirrored! It stores over 150 tubes, jars, and containers, rotating to let you see everything at a glance: Meaning it will actually make it easier to do my job, and I do not suck afterall.

Yay for rationalization!

The spinning mirrored cosmetic organizer is available QVC for $64.68.

As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we are highlighting Pink Ribbon products that benefit the cause. I’m a big fan of Bobbi Brown lipstick and this month, you can get their limited edition Pink Ribbon Collection.

The set includes Pink Quartz Glitter Lip Gloss and Tulle Lip Color. The lip gloss gives you a terrific sparkling shine that can be worn alone or in conjunction with the lipstick.

Bobbi Brown is donating a portion of proceeds from the collection to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. You can order the set online at Nordstrom.com for $40.

How do you get lip color that lasts?

Here are some simple tips:

  • Exfoliate your lips with a washcloth to create a smooth surface.
  • Apply powder or primer to your lips if you are using creme formula lipstick.
  • Fill in your entire lips with liner before applying lipstick.
  • Use a lip brush for precision. You will be able to extend the color to the corners of your lips.

It was all the talk of the beauty boards when Besame Cosmetics announced its super sale (up to 75% off). The brand is repackaging/reformulating much of its line, so it’s out with the old, in with the new! I made a purchase a few weeks ago, and many of the products are still available. I just love the cute, retro packaging. It’s so luxe! The lipstick tube design is inspired by a lipstick case that belonged to Hernandez’s grandmother.

Some products I can wholeheartedly recommend are the Pistachio Eyeshadow, Sunkissed Rouge and Loose Powder. The sale now involves some very low priced items (Regularly around $20, now about $5), and other sets where you can stock up on favorites. I’d certainly love to try other shades of the eyeshadow and rouge!

Better hurry up to take advantage of the great prices!

Shop Pink in October

By Guest Blogger Kori Ellis, Shoe Blitz

As I’m sure you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Hundreds of companies produce and designate “pink” products with a portion of sales going back to breast cancer related charities such as the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and many others.

You might be surprised that some of the products that you use regularly are part of the promotion. For example, here are three of my personal favorites that are giving back.

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing LotionClinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion
I have used this product for over a dozen years. The special, limited-edition bottle of this best-selling moisturizer is priced at $35 with $10 per bottle sold going to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The jumbo-sized bottle comes with a pump and a collectable Pink Ribbon key chain. Available at select Clinique counters around the country.

Elizabeth Hurley High Gloss Lip Color Collection
Three high gloss shades (pearl, pink and rose) come in a limited edition Pink Ribbon case. This set is priced at $16 and just a small part of the Estee Lauder Pink Ribbon Collection, which includes the Evelyn Lauder Lip Collection, a special edition of Beautiful Ead de Parfum Spray and other fantastic items. Estee Lauder is committed to at least at $500,000 donation to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The products are available at all Estée Lauder counters in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, as well as online at esteelauder.com.

e.l.f.’s Super Glossy Lip Shine in Pink Kiss
The best cheap lip gloss out there, in my opinion, is offering 100% of profits from sales of the Pink Kiss shade to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. And it’s only a dollar!

For more information about breast cancer, turn to Pink Ribbon Review, where Karen blogs about raising breast cancer awareness.
