My find? Shu Uemura Painting Gel Eye Liner. It’s highly pigmented, and goes on smooth and creamy, and doesn’t flake!

Plus, it comes in cool shade range that is really good for creative makeup.

• Green, Purple
• Gold, Silver

Why do gel eyeliners work so great? They give you the precision of a liquid liner, but are as transfer-resistant as a pencil. (And yet, if you find a good one, will stay on and not smudge!)

On a whim, I dropped by The Face Shop in Glorietta, Makati City the very same day when I shopped for my MAC fafi. Twas my first stop, actually. I had thought that I ought to give their makeup a try. Write up an Eastern Experiments post on them. But for now, I’ll just be sharing my initial impressions on the eyeliner.

One of the things I bought is the Shimmer Liner Pencil in Golden Bronze. I came across this liner a while back when J, wife of teh boyfriend’s cousin, and I got to talking about makeup. I found it very intriguing. I had wondered how it would look like on me. So, when I saw it that day, I decided to put it in the basket and bring it home so I can begin experimenting.

I like putting on eyeliners but this will be the first time I’ll be using something with shimmer. I always go for the conventional browns or taupes and occasionally, blacks.

Packaging is quaintly cute. Mixed feelings with the floral and uneven-tipped cap. I’ve casually tried using it a couple of times but before I transcribe my thoughts, I reckon I need to set my mind to “review-mode” it while I’m using it so I can note my observations effectively. And I thought I’ve had my share of free beauty loot for the holiday season! I’m quite happy with my new brush set and mineral makeup samples but Roanne Vista of Vanity Vibe surprised me with a cool new makeup that I can experiment with.

It’s Fashion 21 Stick Eyeshadow/Liner, Lotus. I don’t normally use sticks for eye makeup except for my pencil eye liner AND I don’t usually wear pink except for blush. So, this practically dares me to try something totally new. Forcing me out of my comfort zone, eh?

I’ll try my best to document one of my experiments and show it to you guys. Keep an eye out for it!
