Luckily, my eyes have hope of being beautiful again! Dr. Brisco offered some fabulous tips to keeping our eyes happy and healthy. (Even if the rest of us isn’t.

Uncomfortable, dry, irritated eyes occur when there are not enough tears, and can happen because of

* Dry environments (windy, sunny / hot, air conditioner / heater, winter / cold)

• Environments with too much smoke, smog or pollution
• Eye strain due to extended periods in front of computer screen, TV viewing or reading
• Constantly rubbing eyes
• Lack of sleep
• Medications, such as antihistamines, birth control, anti-depressants or antibiotics

It’s All About the Eyes – AND the Eye Area!

“The eyes are open, exposed organs – so debris and irritants like dust and pollen in the air land on and around your eyes and eyelids,” Dr. Brisco says.

Some things we can do to keep our eyes healthy:

• Clean the eyelids daily – just like you brush your teeth every day
• Irritants like dust, pollen and debris can get caught on your eye lashes; you may feel the urge to rub — but rubbing your eyes will actually push irritants further in, making the problem worse.

Don’t rub!

Excessive rubbing can damage the delicate skin around the eyes. It also promotes the appearance of those dreaded crow’s feet and wrinkles. A product like Visine’s Total Eye Soothing Wipes gently cleanse, hydrate and soothe without the rub.

• Moisturize daily around the eye area with a gentle eye cream.
• Sleeping with makeup on gives bacteria a place to live and hide, so be sure to remove makeup before going to sleep. If you have sensitive eyes, be sure to use a product that is both dermatologist- and ophthalmologist-tested for those with sensitive eyes.

OK, here we go. As for today, I’m rocking the sunglasses.

Lorac Front of the Line is one of the good ones.

This is a great long-wearing liquid liner that does not smudge even when I enact my lovely habit of rubbing my eyes and whining about the never ending day – it also is really easy to make straight lines with, without any sloppy misses.

I’m a fan of the flexible tip — that helps with control of stroke – unlike the brush I am used to that always results in serious malfunction. I’m a fine-line sort of girl, but this is beneficial too for those very bold strokes, so feel free to play around and do some experimenting!

Is it just me or do all ladies check the “results” of whatever skincare product they apply on their skin everyday? I guess it’s me being impatient again. Heh. But I do like to see how my skin is progressing as I use this particular eye cream. I know I’ve been hinting about this current experiment on two posts but, continue to bear with me as I postpone writing the review. Things are a bit toxic on my end and I want to be able to give the review my full and undivided attention when I write it.

Meanwhile, I’m looking at this anti-aging gel cream from Shiseido, The Skincare Eye Moisture Recharge. Wouldn’t it be great to have something that you can apply and protect the skin around your eyes all day? It’s always important to remember that moisture is a prime component of a good skin. This is one of the things that the gel cream offers: moisture retention for a long period of time. Of course it also battles against fine lines, puffiness and dark circles.

It’s formulated with Yuzu Seed Extract, which helps improve the production of a natural humectant, hyaluronic acid. It also has Trehalose, which helps maintain and create moisture on the skin.

Suggested Application: Apply as the last step of your skincare routine. Smooth a small amount of cream gently around eyes. To maximize benefits, gently massage into skin around eye area.

Eliminates undereye puffiness; wakes up weary eyes.

Last Saturday, Phoebe graciously handed over a sample pot of the Advanced Eye Perfector from Avon Solutions. I was quite thrilled cuz I now get to try and do something about my puffy eyes. This often happens when I’ve been too tired, lacked sleep or have been looking at the laptop’s monitor for too long. Yes. I apologise for abusing my eyes like this. Another reason may just be that I’m showing signs of aging. Egad.

Ah, well. This just means that I need to take better care of my skin and all. Since Phoebe did say that it worked wonders on her eyes, I guess makes it easier for me to give it a go. If this trial goes well for me, then I just might get in touch with a local Avon Lady I know and get me pot-full of this eye cream!

I’ve put off using gel liners cuz I find them too tiresome to put on but seeing how Sophie demonstrated how she applied it on someone, created a want in me. Reason for applying liners, gel or otherwise, is to put emphasis on the eyes. They bring out the eyes, adds shape and definition. Imagine, I spend so much time on putting on eye makeup alone and now I’m even thinking of adding on effort and time to it by using a gel liner.

But, of course, I’m also experimenting on other ways to do my eye makeup in a different way, hence, the need of a different makeup.

I spotted this Espresso Cream Gel Liner from Therapy Systems today and made me wonder if it’s a good buy. I certainly like that it’s packaged as a compact, comes with mirror and all, and I like that it’s in brown. I’ve always preferred using brown on pencils. I hardly use black. I reckon the brown makes everything looks more natural, esp with my skin tone.

Do you guys have any suggestions? I’ll still be rummaging makeup counters in the mall. I’m hoping to find that perfect gel liner. Meanwhile, I appreciate your thoughts!

This limited edition tri-color pencil is a combination of cool blue and green tones that represent the calm flow of fresh spring dews.

It’s a bit of wait still but I was so fascinated with this eye pencil that I stumbled upon earlier while browsing through Shu Uemura’s Spring Mode Collection.

Spring is all about colours and what better way to celebrate it but to paint you eyes with them bright things. I actually spend a lot of time on eye makeup and welcome the opportunity to try new stuff, granted that it’s safe and not overly colourful. I still have a conservative view in terms of how colourful my eye makeup will be. But I am starting to experiment more. I’d love to take a shot at using this particular eye pencil. I have yet to try out blues more but as for green, er, I love that colour.

Get the vibrant color of a powder…without the mess. Just swivel up, glide on and go! Easy twist-up stick.

My curiosity with my new stick eye makeup, it lead me to discover Avon’s first powder eyeshdow in a stick. Cool. I never really thought sticks are effective mediums for eye shadows. Though, when I did try to apply the one that I have, it easily glided over the skin on my hand.

Apart from eye liners, the only time I encountered sticks are the lip pencils, which you can use to define and shape lips and some can be used like the typical lipsticks. Unfortunately, my experience is tainted with chapped lips. It’s something I wouldn’t want to experience again. Swore off them things ever since.

Anyway, the Shadowstix is currently available for only $2.99 from the original price of $8. Cool savings, me thinks.

And I thought I’ve had my share of free beauty loot for the holiday season! I’m quite happy with my new brush set and mineral makeup samples but Roanne Vista of Vanity Vibe surprised me with a cool new makeup that I can experiment with.

It’s Fashion 21 Stick Eyeshadow/Liner, Lotus. I don’t normally use sticks for eye makeup except for my pencil eye liner AND I don’t usually wear pink except for blush. So, this practically dares me to try something totally new. Forcing me out of my comfort zone, eh?

I’ll try my best to document one of my experiments and show it to you guys. Keep an eye out for it!
