So, if you live in a major metropolitan city – or not – you may or may not be dating a metrosexual.
My best friend’s guy has been known to get his brows threaded before every special occasion so that they are perfectly shaped, and my baby-faced little brother will never go to bed before well-moisturizing from his toes to the tips of his fingers.
When is it too much? And when is it just…good manners?
The truth is, male grooming is sometimes just good manners: Neanderthal man is long gone, the time when male body odor was the only fragrance required is …read more
My Psychotic Eyebrow Obsession, or: A Rant on Sienna Miller’s September 07 Vogue Cover

I have, in the *ahem* past, been accused of being eyebrow obsessed. Maybe I am – just a tad. I just hate overdone eyebrows, I really do. I think they are a very important feature, and when I see them too BIG and too LONG, and even too skinny and, God forbid, too far apart – especially on models – it just drives me ape-y. So, I always love articles and features about eyebrows and what do you know, the NY Sun did a great little article on eyebrows today, The Pampered Brow, and as a …read more

Oh there are 912,000 reasons I have been wanting to go to visit NYC over the past year, and now there is reason 912,001. My friend Elke, the goddess of the perfect eyebrow, is doing some serious eyebrow work this week (and weekends in the future, as I understand) at the Eyebrow Bar at Slope Suds Salon (433 7th Avenue Brooklyn, NY 11215).
About Elke’s service:
“The Model Eyebrow” Service creates the perfect eyebrow that can immediately go out on the town, or back to work without any client touch ups required. Elke’s personalized touch leaves her clients …read more

And when I say fierce, it is not the good fierce! I think Keira is very beautiful, but what makeup artist in her right mind would leave those brows in that kind of shape? I know, I am a little fixated on eyebrows sometimes, but I really think they make a tremendous difference in your looks and they are a simple thing to groom properly, and most often, when I find someone beautiful to be odd looking, it is their overgrown brows (Jennifer Aniston). Here is Keira on the July InStyle cover:

Today on one of my favorite friends sites, Gotta Spa, is – surprise! – a little article I wrote about my favorite hair products. Go check it out if you want to know what they are (hint: I wrote that before I tried Yuki’s yummy shampoo).
Yesterday GottaSpa featured Elke, from the Beauty Newsletter, and her beautiful eyebrow grooming tips. I won’t say anymore, cause I promised I would try not to go back on an eyebrow tangent, but, as always, Elke is chock full of great advice. Remember her eyebrow video not long ago?
Thanks so much …read more

Over the weekend I came across this video at Almost Girl that is an awesome live demonstration of Elke perfecting Julie’s eyebrows. You will get everything you ever wanted to know about shaping, arching, tweezing the perfect eyebrows. Don’t miss this if you are an eyebrow girl (which you should be!!), I thought I knew all there was to know about tweezing, but I picked up a tip or two I hadn’t heard before – I bet you will too.
Great job Elke and Julie – thanks for sharing!!
