This photo was taken late in the afternoon, probably between 4pm and 5pm, while inside an ex-Royal carriage I had found myself in when the family decided to take the Cockle Train (old-fashioned steam train) from Victor Harbour to Goolwa (Australia) and back.
I was fascinated with the mirrors, wooden blinds, rich mahogany interiors, complete with chandeliers, that I saw in a surprisingly empty carriage. We all wondered why there weren’t any other passengers inside that particular carriage. It was absolutely wonderful, which made the experience extra special. We had an opportunity to feel like “royals” for half an hour. [...]
Post from: eBeautyDaily

Once the photo was snapped, I wondered, will this look pass the royal standards?

Anyway, my makeup’s been on for a few hours; been exposed to sea wind, sun, and the cold weather. Worn off a bit but it still looks alright. I reckon the only thing I had touched up on was my lippy. Shu’s been a fave since I got here. Love how it moisturises my lips and looks so natural, too.

Earlier, Sophie and I were having a chat on makeup. She was advocating the importance of effective and efficient coverage, benefits of mineral makeup, tips on how to use minerals, picking the right sort of foundation when I blurted out that I’m addicted to gel liners, particularly my MAC Fluidline. She agrees that it’s one of MAC’s that she can appreciate.

I’ve never been an expert on applying liquid or gel eye liners. But holding that glass pot in my hands gave me the courage to experiment and learn. I’ve been finding opportunities to wear it on my eyes ever since I bought it. I’m so hooked.

Ah, yes. Had dinner plans in Makati with friends so that means I get to put on the gel liner again. Yay!

What I used:

<ins>Face</ins>
Intervene Pause & Effect Moisture Creme SPF 15, Elizabeth Arden
Intervene Makeup in Soft Sunbeige (liquid foundation), Elizabeth Arden
Tea Tree Oil Tube Concealer #02, The Body Shop
Flawless Finish Maximum Coverage Concealer (Fair 01), Elizabeth Arden
Bronze Beauty Color Intrigue Bronzing Powder Duo, Elizabeth Arden

<ins>Eyes</ins>
Vanilla, Hey & Howzat, MAC fafi
Olive shimmer, Care Line
Color Nuance in Gold shimmer (WH005), The Face Shop
Fluidline Eye-Liner Gel, MAC
Smoky Eyes Powder Pencil (Smoky Black 01), Elizabeth Arden
Ceramide Lash Extending Treatment Mascara, Elizabeth Arden

<ins>Eyebrow</ins>
Shimmer Waves, The Body Shop

<ins>Cheek</ins>
Cheek Colour, The Body Shop

<ins>Lips</ins>
Lip Colour Sheer in Sandrine (410), ARTISTRY

Right now, whenever I apply the gel liner, I often end up with a “winged” look as Sophie had christened it. Honestly, it’s the only way I know how to apply it so don’t go thinking that I did it on purpose. (This is your cue to jump in with tips on how to wear the gel liner, in case you failed to pick up the hint. LOL) As for the rest of the eye makeup, I’ve managed to discover some techniques as I experimented and others were just picked up along the way (with me bugging makeup artists and such, hehe). Never hurts to be more willing to learn more about something you know you’re not an expert of. You’ll never know but you could be walking with a made-up face that’s grossly done wrong. We wouldn’t really want to look like a clown now do we?

As you may have noticed, I spend most time on my eye makeup. I guess it’s one of the things about makeup that I really want to be good at. I’m still learning and I’m always happy whenever I get to try out something new esp when it turns out okay.

P.S. I toned the lipstick down by wiping some off. The shade’s naturally redder and darker. Will tell you more about it at a later post.
