NARS Sheer Matte Foundation

My bestie works is currently working in the lingerie industry, and she will tell you that a proper foundation is intrinsic to everything from posture to looking your thinnest.
Well, I agree. But I think foundation doesn’t end there in importance. I think the right foundation on your face is equally paramount.
Right now, on my face is NARS Sheer Matte Foundation.
It has a sheer glow finish (hence the name), and has buildable coverage without being weighty. This helps it to do the job it’s meant to do: it enhances, not masks, your complexion.
The result? I’m feeling pretty luminous!
Double-Ended Perfect Complexion Brush

It’s usually my goal to get brushes that can multi-task, so one that has two ends? Well, that makes things even easier!
Sephora Brand Double-Ended Perfect Complexion Brush is fabulous – it’s a super high-quality two-in-one brush that can do foundation on one side, and powders on the other!
This simple-as-pie duality is a reason it was a must-have in my vacation-packing. I like to use one side for cream and fluid foundation and the other side for powders.
Plus, um, it’s pink!

You have heard it before.
“Less is more!” “The natural look!”
Generally, everyone wears makeup. Everyone looks better in makeup. But, ultimately, we all look better when we look like we are not wearing any, but actually are.
Maybe created with this in mind, Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation promises to offer translucent coverage “allowing the natural health and glow of skin to shine through while protecting the complexion against damaging UV rays.”
OK, what does all this mean?
Basically, it works as a dose of specially treated pigments blended with light diffusing mica. This all helps to soften lines, wrinkles, pores, whatever, for a …read more

Recently, I was at a media event, and I found Dior’s Diorskin Nude Natural Glow Hydrating Makeup SPF 10 in my goodie bag.
I was super excited from the start – I may have crates of cosmetic swag – but Dior? That’s a special occasion even for me!
Well, as you might imagine – I ripped open the package the second I walked through my front door at tried it out.
It’s 100% natural mineral pigments mixed with active mineralized water – no funky stuff – and it truly does create flawless complexion and glowing skin!
At $45, it may seem like a splurge …read more

I month or two ago I got an announcement from the MAC mailing list (you ARE on the MAC mailing list, right??) about their new Mineralize SPF 15 foundation. Oh boy! I couldn’t wait to get my little paws on that – since you hopefully know that I am a huge mineral foundation fan.
Quite honestly, my history with MAC foundations has not been that great. Seems like every time I go into a store (all of them, not just MAC), they give me a foundation that is just a shade light for my skin, so I end up not really …read more

One of the brands that I was introduced to at the Total Beauty Blog Summit last weekend was Redpoint Beauty Color Cosmetics. They have been around for a little while, selling on their web site and on QVC, but, once again, my lack of TV watching has caused me to miss something good.
They gave us some very interesting introductory products for the line, my favorite of which is the NOC-Out Cover-Up Compact. This is a great concealer product! The compact contains 3 colors – a yellow based color to cover up redness (just apply a thin layer over …read more

I have had some big fun playing with some Nicole Paxson cosmetics of late. Nicole has designed a range of foundations that are meant to have great coverage in order to cover up skin disorders due to – well, any reason you might have. Nicole has Lupus, which has caused her a wide variety of unpleasant skin reactions – rashes and photo-sensitivity among them. Her range includes powder (one color works for all), cream foundations, liquid foundation, bronzer and concealer. Each product has a nice SPF – from 15 (powder) to 30 (most foundations) with both …read more

The Color Ideal Illuminateur is one of my favorite products I had the opportunity to preview while in NYC and it is now available at Lancome-USA.com. This is a hugely versatile product that can be used to highlight, mixed with your foundation for an all over glow, used alone on your eyes for an eye color, mixed with your lotion for some body shimmer – tons of uses for this. This is what Lancome says about the product:
Inspired by makeup artists, Color Ideal Illuminateur imparts a unique combination of color true pigments and shimmering pearls that catches the light …read more
Intervene Makeup by Elizabeth Arden

I mentioned a month or two ago that I was branching out from my mineral makeup. I had become very comfortable in it, and I really needed to try some of the new foundations on the market – especially the anti-aging ones. Darn it.
It has been a long time since I have used liquid foundation on a regular basis, but I have started out with Elizabeth Arden’s new foundation, Intervene. This is an extension of their successful Intervene Pause and Effect anti-aging skin care line. Probably the very most important feature for a foundation for me is to have …read more
Fashion Week Day 1, Continues – Elizabeth Arden

So after the Red Dress show, some of the gals headed off backstage to Jason Wu, I went back and chilled out a little bit and got ready for a lunch with Lindsey and Suki from my beloved Elizabeth Arden. I’m already (and have been) a great fan of Elizabeth Arden – as I have mentioned plenty of times before, their Double Density mascara is my favorite. They are trying to convince me that their new Ceramide mascara is even greater, but we will see how she fares through the Mascara Wars. Gonna be tough to beat Double Density, but …read more
