Korres Watermelon Sunscreen Stick SPF 30 has been a fabulous find for my sensitive face – it’s super easy to apply, easily fits in my cutest of purses, and – most importantly – works!

As in works, I mean, I don’t end up with an ugly blotchy sunburn by the end of the day. It also has a cool but natural-looking iridescent touch, and is sweat-proof! You probably want to consider it, too, if you hate checking luggage – it’s NOT a gel or a liquid, and thus carry-on bag friendly!

I heart it, like, to the point we’re going together to Montauk next week.

However, I am smitten with Korres Body Butters!

These were developed exclusively for Sephora, and each formula is enriched with shea butter which is great for softening the skin; it also contains a blend of sunflower, almond, and avocado oils to restore elasticity and smoothness; and quince extract to heal and nourish.

So while it may seem like this body butter is the makings of a good salad, it’s actually the making of good skin. Then again, so is a salad. But anyway, it’s really really awesome – try it!

And then I come across this interesting lipstick from Korres, the Guava Lipstick.

What’s interesting is that it never occurred to me that you can actually use Guava for makeup. I guess my orientation with this plant is on its medicinal attribute as relayed in a previous post on using Guava for skincare. I guess that’s it. Skincare. I’d only expect it to be used for skincare products and not makeup. However, more and more beauty brands are incorporating skincare into their makeup to cater to women who are mindful of their skin (and not just ones with sensitive skin).

Anyway, the lipstick highlights what it is formulated without: Parabens, Sulfates, and Phthalates. Don’t ask me what those are. I really have no clue. At this point in time, my needs aren’t strong enough to bother doing the research. At least, not yet. But if you folks would love to know more, let me know I’ll try to squeeze some research time in my schedule. That’s to show how much I love you Beauty Bento Box readers. Hehe.

Going back, I can’t help but wonder how this will taste like. It’s a different thing if we’re just talking about body butters or boiled water, these things don’t reach your taste buds. But this is a lipstick. Surely you’ll get a taste one way or the other. I hope it won’t taste like you’ve just eaten a leaf (which is totally different if we’re talking about eating green vegetables). We don’t exactly have salads with Guava leaves in them, yes? I guess that’s one of the concerns. Another is, of course, its efficacy.

So this brings me to ask, any of you folks ever tried this lipstick? I’d appreciate any sort of feedback. I’d love to know more about this Guava Lipstick from Korres.

Black Tea & Verbena Skin Smoothing Cream

Korres Black Tea and Verbena Anti-Cellulite Cream is an easily absorbed cream-gel that acts in all stages of the lipogenesis-lipolysis cycle.

I know, I know. Least thing that I should be worried about is cellulite but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t be curious about products that may help remove or fight the appearance of them, right? For all you know, there WILL come a time when I just may be burdened by that very problem. It’s good to be well-informed of remedies, don’t you agree?

The Black Tea & Verbena Skin Smoothing Cream by KORRES is a skin-smoothing cream-gel infused with caffeine, to fight the appearance of cellulite.

What is Lipogenesis?

Lipogenesis is the process by which simple sugars such as glucose are converted to fatty acids, which are subsequently esterified with glycerol to form the triacylglycerols that are packaged in VLDL and secreted from the liver.

What is Lipolysis?

Lipolysis is the breakdown of fat stored in fat cells. During this process, free fatty acids are released into the bloodstream and circulate throughout the body. Ketones are produced, and are found in large quantities in ketosis (a state in metabolism occurring when the liver converts fat into fatty acids and ketone bodies which can be used by the body for energy.).

I reckon both processes are responsible for presence of cellulite in the body. Don’t quote me on this since I’m not much of a science person. I may need to read more on it to be sure.

Main ingredients of the smoothing cream are caffeine, black tea and verbena extracts, Ivy, Centella and Ruscus. Caffeine acts in all stages of the lipogenesis-lipolysis cycle, fighting the appearance of cellulite. Black tea and verbena extracts help reduce fat accumulation and Ivy, Centella, and Ruscus help invigorate microcirculation while significantly reducing the dimple effect on the skin.

Understanding the product better had helped satisfy a bit of my curiosity. It somehow explained how this cream can help in cellulite concerns. But at present, I’m more concerned with stretch marks; having gained and lost significant weight. I wonder if this cream can help in that department, too?

Ah, well. This skin smoothing cream may be a good idea for you beauties who want to get rid of them cellulite.

Suggested Application: Best applied on skin after exfoliation.

What it is:
A divinely rich, guava-scented smoothing cream for dry elbows, heels, and knees.

What it is formulated to do:
The emollient balm can also be used over the entire body, preferably onto warm, damp skin, after bathing to lock-in moisture.

This may be synthetic and the glorified version of the Guava treatment on the skin but I reckon it’s a start. If you’re wondering what I’m talking about, well, here in my country we have this practice wherein we use Guava on the skin. I’ll save further explanation on the treatment for a later post.

I recommend creams or lotions to smoothen problematic areas of the skin like the elbows, heels and knees due to it being prone to dryness over other areas of the skin. It’s something I wish I can do everyday, if only it weren’t too warm and humid in my country. Also, a nighttime ritual of putting on cream on your heel will help soften the skin in that area.

I haven’t tried this one but natural products have that reputation of being safe to use, right? This reminds me, I want to a cream that won’t smell so manufactured, know what I mean?
