It’s been a while since I last experimented on hair care products. This opportunity came as a surprise and I won’t say no to a brand I’ve grown a soft spot for. Dove certainly has shown promise in terms of skin care in my book and learning of the hair care systems they’re offering is a real treat. I took my time using these two so I can aptly provide you, my dear readers, enough insight on how the experience was like.

Notice how I am featuring two products that come from different lines. It’s not like I had a choice but I reckon it’ll be a great way to determine if each can stand on its own and if both can work when matched with a different hair care product.

I’ve had my hair coloured since 2000. From black blue cellophane treatments to standard hair colouring treatments of brown hues with highlights or reddish brown shades. I’ve basically subjected my hair with these treatments without careful thought of how to care for its state specifically. Unlike my mum who’ve been religiously colouring her hair since forever and have dutifully used special shampoos and conditioners to care for her mane.

Apart from my initial use of a different brand (in which the habit didn’t stick), Dove is my latest attempt at coloured hair maintenance.

The Advance Colour Care shampoo didn’t particularly disappoint. Not only did it feel like it deeply cleansed my hair, it didn’t leave my hair feeling stringy and squeeky clean. It felt like I could easily just use the shampoo everyday without fear of losing the radiance of my hair colour and negatively affect the treatment, damaging the hair.

The Advance Colour Therapy conditioner was a great complement. Though it’s particularly formulated for lightened colour or highlighted treatments, conditioning my current hair proved to be a good experience. Rinsing it off was easy and it leaves my hair soft and manageable. Again, it helps maintain the moisture factor without risk of further damage.

Combined, they make a good pair. A sort of balancing act, addressing each need as they are formulated to do. I may need to use it for a longer period to fully see its effects but in the past week that I’ve given it a go, it has done wonders to an otherwise growing dull coloured hair that I have.

This reminds me I need to make an appointment with my hairdresser soon. Perhaps I’ll get a trim, too.
