L’Oreal’s Beauty Barometer

I have heard of the Lipstick Index, but the Beauty Barometer was new to me…until I realized it’s essentially the same thing!
Basically, L’Oreal commissioned a usage survey, asking 4,000 women in the US and in 4 European nations about what they used and why.
The results are very interesting! Essentially, women have changed the shades they usually purchase – the look now is more “natural,” but are still using their favorite products.
Here’s some other results:
– Half of women think wearing makeup at work makes them appear more in control, and in result, gives them an advantage
– 40% of women are wearing …read more

Carelle/L’Oreal Paris 2009 Red Carpet Compact

Sigh.
In my next life, I am going to become a movie star.
Check out the compact Carelle and L’Oreal Paris created exclusively for last night’s Oscar Awards – and gifted to best actress winner Kate Winslet. The compact has a retail value of about $9,000  and features amethyst and red rhodolite.
How gorgeous is this? And how can anyone, even a movie star, receive it…and then just toss it in their purse?

Mascara! Get Your Free Mascara!

Starting tomorrow, Lucky Magazine will be giving away 1000 (yes that is ONE THOUSAND) of L’Oreal Paris’ new Bare Natural mascara!  Follow this link to get that mascara – again, starting tomorrow!

Now, what do I know about Bare Naturale mascara?  I know that my mother LOVES it.  I have given her so many expensive mascara’s to try over the last few years – she hates them all.  Her eyelashes are really fine and they clump like you wouldn’t believe.  DiorShow?  Nope.  Faux Cils?  Huh uh.  Elizabeth Arden, Estee Lauder, Jane Iredale – nope, nope, nope.  She spotted the Bare …read more

Vichy Laboratories: Skin Care for All Skin Types

Vichy Laboratories, which is currently a division of L’Oreal, has been around since 1931 and have had a strong foothold in Europe.  Up until recently I hadn’t been very familiar with their line, not for any particular reason other than I just hadn’t made it around to check them out.  But I have now a little, and I do like very much what I’ve seen.  All of their products contain Vichy Thermal Spa Water (with the one exception of their Nutrilogie Lip product), a mineral filled spring water from Vichy, France, water which has been recognized by the French Academy …read more

Diane Keaton for L’Oreal USA

I saw this article this morning from the LA Times: Cosmetics Firms Try a New Wrinkle in Ads, and of course it intrigued me. And what did I find out?

Diane Keaton has been hired on as the new face of L’Oreal’s Vital Radiance line of products. What?, you say? (Thats what I said.) What about Fonda? I then get to the end of the article that says almost in fine print that L’Oreal has hired Fonda for their European ads. Aaaah. That is a much better move, methinks. I guess L’Oreal hasn’t completely …read more

Fonda selling wrinkle cream

Fonda selling wrinkle cream

I found this a tad bit interesting – especially after noticing how tremendously wrinkled Jane Fonda was in the movie Monster In Law. I hope she has been using L’Oreal’s creams if she is going to be their spokesmodel, no doubt it should be able to make some improvements.
Hollywood veteran Jane Fonda has been named as L’Oreal Paris’ oldest ever “spokesmodel”. The 68-year-old signed a six-figure deal to become the new face of their anti-ageing cream. The Barbarella beauty is renowned for her attitude towards “real beauty” and growing old naturally. …read more

Did you know?

Did you know?

I have been reading a lot of information about L’Oreal lately with their purchase of The Body Shop, and thought you might be interested in a list of other skin/hair brands, all owned by L’Oreal:
Maybelline, Lancome, Shu Uemura, Kiehl’s, Biotherm, Vichy, Cacharel, Armani, Ralph Lauren, Helena Rubenstein, The Body Shop (coming soon), Redken, Matrix, Biotherm, Garnier
What does this mean to you?  Not that much really.  More than anything, it should remind you that so much in the world of brands is in your head.  I imagine there is more than a few similarities in the Loreal drugstore skin care and …read more

Loreal H.I.P. Eyecolor

I have been meaning to write a bit on L’Oreal’s HIP (High Intensity Pigment) eyeshadows for several weeks now. I have tried two different colors, and really love these. They are intense colors and they stay on very well without creasing or flaking or fading. The one pictured above is called Cheeky, and is a metallic pink/mauve and a darker mauve. The color representation on my monitor is very close. The other one I tried is below, is called Dynamic, and is a matte dark brown with a frosted cream color. Very pretty …read more
