Sexy eyes are a make or break in the dating scene. (Not to say I know ANYTHING about what works in the dating scene, clearly, but I know what looks good.)

I’m off to Montauk this morning, and I really want to look sexy - look what’s in my overnight bag!

Made exclusively for Nordstrom, MAC’s Rose Is a Rose is an exclusive compact of four shades that are very flirty and floral - but because it’s MAC - have a touch of edginess to them.

Included are the limited-edition shades Seeds of Love and Petal Worship, and encores Solar White and Contrast - all shades that will make YOU worship-worthy. Unless your date is clueless and a waste of time…which most are, anyway.

I am a huge fan of all things MAC, and jump on their new products the second I get the info emailed to me. This summer, there will be two special limited lines available: Style Warrior and Naked Honey.

stylewarrior-ambient-300Style Warrior is eclectic and expressive, and perfect for summer: It’s a selection of all-over summer bronzing shades  featuring  Impassioned, Bronzescape and Scatterrays Solar Bits –  ll exotically packaged in stylized zebra and leopard prints to keep it wild and uninhibited – like you are a true style warrior! (Packaging shown here! Don’t you love???)

You probably - as a beauty maven - already know honey has been used in beauty and healing since the dawn of time. M·A·C’s Naked Honey line has awesome new limited edition face and body products that work to keep bodies moist and a gorgeous honey-comb designed High-Light Powder. Naked Honey Hand and Body Cream and Naked Honey Body Wash that contain bio converted honey.

I’m SO excited about these lines - and will give more specific individual product reviews as soon as my samples come in!

If you are looking to update your scent this season, M·A·C Creations Hue: Dejarose is a perfect spring fragrance.

mc2b7ac2b7ccreationshuedejaroseIt’s totally romantic and mingles Bulgarian, Turkish and Tea Roses with the essence of orchid, lily, jasmine and peony to create a rosy retro-scent.

I love the sexy playfulness of it - and the bottle is perfectly cute and compact as well!

M·A·C Prep + Prime Finishing Powder

There’s just about no MAC product I don’t love.

prepandprimeNo matter what our favorite cosmetic product, though, they all require a good finishing powder to set the look. And my new finishing powder is MAC’s Prep + Prime.

Sometimes finishing powders can create a dry look - this is not a good thing - but this one went on pretty silky, but still helped to reduce shine and set my makeup. It also looked fine on bare skin (just remember to use a moisturizer first!).

M·A·C Glitter Eyeliner

Have I mentioned lately that I am crazy obsessed with eyeliner?

macglittereyelinerI also LOVE MAC, and their Hello Kitty collection.

So, when they sent me their new Glitter Eyeliner, in several shades to play with, it was like a kid in a candy store.
It’s exactly that - glitter suspended in a gel liquid liner!!!

It’s not crazy-overpowering glitter like some other brands, so you will not look like a club kid gone wild - rather it will help you create a subtle yet playful glitter-line around the lid.

It even comes with its own small precision-line brush!

I have been wearing it all week, and getting tons of compliments - it’s a must-add to your beauty wardrobe!

The second I saw the packaging for these eyeshadows, I wanted them - before I even knew how awesome the shades inside were!

machellokittydollyThe MAC Hello Kitty Eyeshadows are fun, kittylicious eye colors that come in two palettes of four shades.
Too Dolly is four eye shadows—including three new limited-edition shades—in a shiny black Hello Kitty® compact featuring her iconic image with a pink bow on the front. Shades include Romping, Stately Black, Too Dolly and Yogurt.

And the other compact, Lucky Tom, is four eyemacluckytom shadows—including three new limited-edition shades: Crème Royal, Paradisco, Stylin and Lucky Tom.

Spring fashions are all about the bright pinks, greens, and blues - why not have your face complement your clothes???

OK, seriously. Don’t be too matchy-matchy. But these are super hot - you must try them. Like immediately.

M·A·C Tricolour Lipglass

I always squeal the loudest when MAC press releases come in. (Interestingly, that applies to both the cosmetic brand and the computer company.)

Anyway…

mactricolorOne of the most recent releases from MAC is totally cool, it’s a tricolor lipglass where a wave of three shades are stacked with varying pearl combinations in one vial!

What does that mean? Buy one product - and try a slightly different shade each time you use it. If you are a creature of habit, you may not be ready for this - but if you need to shake up your style a bit, here’s a great way to ease into it!

M.A.C.’s new Chill Collection

I have temporarily escaped to warmer climates (re: hanging with my gal pals…I mean…work colleagues in sunny California).

However, after just a few gleeful days, I will have to (mournfully) return to the winter chill of New York.

As the temperature drops, my favorite cosmetics company, M.A.C., has released a new beauty barometer sharing the season’s hot new cool. It shows the light snowflake lips of Naked Frost. Eyes sculpted in Arctic Grey, warmed with deep black velvety strokes of new Penultimate Eye Liner.

It’s pretty awesome. This season’s hottest runway looks show us graduated smoky eye (a gradient of silver/gray to black) with cool-toned frosty pink lips. You’ll find all these shades in this collection, along with several others that will inspire heating up your look among the arctic chill.

And guess what…this shades look pretty hot out here in sunny California, as well!

“Hallo Possums!”: The new Dame Edna Collection for MAC

January 1, 2009 by Aly Walansky

At first I thought the MAC-Dame Edna combination was ever-so-slightly weird. I mean, when was the last time any of us looked at Dame Edna and thought beauty icon????

Follow my beauty regime possums, and you’ll never be cosmetically challenged.

- Dame Edna

Well, that’s high promise: I am a beauty editor, and I’m cosmetically challenged just about every time I ready myself for a hot night out!

That said, I am a little fearful of embodying the beauty advice of a drag queen.

It’s a pretty comprehensive line though, all in mystical fairy-dust-like shades in a very retro lavender casing that is topped off with a signature red logo based on a pair of Dame Edna’s glases.

The line includes two shades of nail polish, a highlight powder, two eye shadow trios, three lipsticks and three lip glosses. Longtime MAC fans may see a lot of similarity between these shades and the Heatherette collection - but I’m loving it! The frosty pastels will really complement anything you acquire from their Chill looks. (More on that coming very soon!)

Here’s the Dame Edna Collection lineup:

Darling glitters

So, the beauty editor in me was…confused!

MAC Cosmetics recently sent me their fabulous holiday-edition glitter, and I can’t wait to use it…just (I’m embarrassed to say), I could not figure out…how.

littledarlings.jpgBut once I did, I realized it’s just about the coolest thing ever. M·A·C Glitter can be applied directly to the skin or combined with products to create high-level glitter and sparkle effects on all areas of the face, skin and hair.

For the holidays, it’s simply an ideal way to look festive all over! Available this season is Little Darlings, a holiday gift set of five mini-sizes for use on eyes, cheeks or face. It features Gold Dusk, Gold Mode, Gold Stroke, Melon Pigments, and Reflects Antique Gold Glitter in a glossy red-orange patent cylinder-shaped gift box with a lift-off lid for $29.50.

So, I’d love to hear if any of you have fun, creative ways to best use your own glitters?
