As you probably can tell from my trials of new ones every few weeks, I am a mascara ho. And while I have my absolute favorite of all time (MAC Zoom Lash, I heart you!) – I am super-excited to try new ones that seem to kick things up a notch.

Because, let’s face it, the eyes do have. And sexy eyes can make a BIG difference when trying to play seductress.

I just learned this morning that coming in November – which is, but days away – Bobbi Brown is launching Extreme Party Mascara.

Bobbi Brown says it’ll be great “for women who want the dramatic look of false lashes without the hassle.” – as that’s precisely what I want, I’m excited to try it!

It contains a new “re-activation” formula, which is supposed to make each layer as clean and buildable as the first, meaning you can go bolder right away, or as the day goes on. (Perhaps to go from day to night?)

Will report back as soon as I try it!

I finally did yesterday, and I was blown away. Zoom Lash is quite simply, the blackest-black best, most insta-volume mascara I’ve ever used in my entire life.

It’s really hard for me, when testing mascaras, to find those that succeed at the thickening effect, and yet don’t give me the fringe “benefit” of smudge and smear…this so succeeds though. It didn’t clump, and I wore it all day long – and to two events – and it was still perfect when it came time to wash my face!

I see it almost as a push-up bra for my lashes. It lifts and separates, and makes them look bigger! (OK, longer and thicker. Maybe that is like viagra. But work with me here.)

Even better: You only need one layer! Since I am traditionally a two-coat girl, I see this as double value. Hello, recession-friendly!

As I said. Best mascara in the history of the world.

The weather is changing, and as it gets a lot more drab and overcast, the rest of us a pick-me-up.

To that end, Estee Lauder has just launched a brand new mascara, Sumptuous Color Bold Volume Lifting Mascara, that will give our eyes a fabulous tint of color. It’s inspired by the fall runways of greats like John Galliano and Marc Jacobs – you can wear it on its own, or on top of your usual black mascara to give your lashes a fun tint!

It comes in Amber, Garnet, Sapphire, Amethyst and Emerald – I shall post again with my favorite shade once I try them all!

I try mascaras day in and day out — as we speak, I am brushing it on with General Hospital in the background – and way too many are a lash fail.

But I am in love with NARS Larger Than Life Lengthening Mascara. It delivers both the length I am looking for, but also the all-important definition and separation that is crucial to not looking bumpy and clumpy.

IT has high-tech bristles that do the dirty work, but is comprised of nylon fibers cling to lashes for extra length, and is made with macadamia nut oil and Vitamin E to help power them up! That makes them look extra supple?

(Maybe I am a product junkie? Perhaps.)

I’ve always been a huge fan of Anastasia’s brow products, so it comes as no surprise that their new Lash Lifting Mascara rocks as well.

I have fine white lashes, so I am all about volume. This mascara is great for them, it thickens and curls my lashes super quick (as in one stroke!).

The formula contains hard waxes, which help to build lashes. It also has synthetic polymer fibers, which help with body and volume.

It’s super rich and creamy, and non-clumping, making this my new fave….just please don’t tell the others.

Clearly, the cons are quite apparent. Especially for someone who has been known to nearly blind myself with eyeliner.

But there are benefits to a vibrating mascara, and Lancôme’s first foray into the field is a good one. Like something out of a sci-fi movie, press the button to activate 7,000 oscillations per minute – this helps to wrap every lash with a full round of color, and actually less smudging than a regular brush. (Which is the part that surprised me.)
