Interesting research out of Scotland lands at the BBC today – “Pregnant women have been told that not using perfumes or scented creams may reduce the risk of unborn boys developing infertility in later life.”  [source]

The point is, that these researchers seem to have found a connection between fragrance and reproductive health in male offspring of rats.  Honestly, that is a little scary to me.  I have always been one of those folks who never worried about that *stuff.*  I continued to color my hair, and certainly never considered not wearing moisturizer, lotion and makeup during my pregnancy.  I hope my son doesn’t pay for that later on. 

I know all of this is such a hot topic, and maybe its a wise thing to be concerned about.  I am just glad I don’t have to worry about it anymore.  Do you worry?

Well was I ever pleasantly surprised by Vow, for several reasons. First and foremost, the scent is absolutely amazing. I always find myself expecting not to like a new fragrance. Vow 2006 is floral and feminine without being at all “grandmother-y,” it is delicate and makes me feel beautiful. I really could see this one being my very favorite fragrance. This is how the company describes the fragrance notes:

Top notes of sparkling citrus blossoms, white pepper and pink freesia open to a heart of champagne roses, honeysuckle, orange flower and night blooming wild jasmine. Lingering at the base is the sensuality of amber with a hint of sheer musk.

That is a perfect description. Yum!

Second, the idea of Vow is really unique. Vow is marketed towards brides, with a “vintage” that is sold for only 1 year. The packaging is beautiful, it comes in a white, satin lined box that opens book-style, and comes with a registration card so you can register your fragrance and have the ability to purchase your year’s vintage forever. Isn’t that unique? I really think this is an amazing bridal gift, but would be a great bridesmaid gift as well. And even if there is no wedding in your future, this is a scent to check out for your own personal use anyway, I can’t tell you how yummy it is!

I am also going to ping my friends Christine and Arieanna on this one, Christine writes OurOneHeart, about weddings and brides, and Arieanna is just about to walk the aisle herself. I would hate to think either of them would miss this fragrance!

Since busting out of my one fragrance mode last year, I realized that I don’t “have” to stick with one or two fragrances.  I don’t know what it is about me that gets in such a rut with things, but I have realized lately that I am very much this way – I carry one purse til it dies, and wear one watch til it dies.  Crazy.  I am missing out on a lot here!

Anyway, I have been using Philosophy’s Amazing Grace for a couple of weeks now, and I really like it – it is very light, summery, floral based fragrance, which will be just exactly right for everyday wear in the spring and summer months.  Sometimes florals get a little “elderly” smelling, but this one is not that way at all, nor does it smell like a very young girl’s fragrance – it is very elegant.  I tried this Fragrance Purse, pictured above, that has .5 oz of spray fragrance as well as a little jar of solid fragrance (fabulous for carrying around in my purse).  You can get the purse from beauty.com, for $30.
