MAC Cosmetics finally launches the limited edition MAC Naughty Nauticals here in Manila. The event will allow you to have fun with Sailor-ettes as they teach you four (4) modern eye makeup techniques for this (a toss between or both) sizzling wet season. Catch is you need to get an sms to get the free lesson. But if you decide to splurge, I reckon they’ll accommodate you! Heehee.

The launch will be held at MAC Cosmetics in Rustan’s, Makati City.

The official makeup for the 2008 Philippine Fashion Week ARTISTRY™ had signed on Tessa Prieto-Valdes as the brand’s image model for the fashion week season and had taken on Viktor Ortega of EMPHASIS as the official makeup artist cum endorser, too. Both were officially presented to public during their own show at the Opening Ceremony.

According to an ARTISTRY™ contact, the brand has Sandra Bullock as their image model in the US. While Tessa’s contract with ARTISTRY™ still isn’t on a long-term basis, they’re voicing a keen interest that she’ll stay on even after the fashion week season’s over. Do we smell projects? I reckon we’ll be hearing more about this brand if that comes to pass.

On Viktor Ortega, I reckon you guys remember him from my report on Pantene’s Council of Stylists a while back? He’s part of it. One of the seven (7) hair stylists chosen to endorse Pantene Pro V Hairfall Control. Hmmm. Can we expect ARTISTRY™ Skincare and Colour products AND Pantene Haircare Systems in EMPHASIS? In that case, it’s worth booking an appointment or two. Wouldn’t you agree, Mr. Ortega?

Vaseline has a new image model, Sarah Michelle Gellar. The brand is more widely known for their hand and body care products. Gellar will now carry the “smooth skin” mantra.

Here in my country (Philippines), they’ve made quite a name for themselves in their hair care line, Vaseline Shampoo.

Here’s a sample of an old Vaseline advert with Heart Evangelista: (note, dialogue in Filipino)

And even commissioned a local music artist Nikki Gil, for a song, Glowing Inside. A tribute of Vaseline to the Graduates of 2006 and their mums.

Clear is clearly making waves in Asia (pun intended). I’ve never seen any other dandruff shampoo create such steady awareness in their market. I reckon since it’s their launch year, they’re really making sure that we all remember the brand. And what better way to do that in other Asian countries like Korea? Get a hot Korean superstar to endorse it! Get Rain Jung Ji-Hoon!

Rain is one of the most successful Asian superstars as his name is not only famous in his home base, Korea. He has a steady fan base here in the Philippines, who listen to his songs, swoon over his impressive dancing, and gush over his telenovelas. He even did a concert in New York. He’s that good. He is all full of sex appeal and talent.

So, yea. They can even use that advert here in the Philippines!

Rounded beads from organically-grown cacao and finely crushed walnut shells in a slather of moisturizing sweet almond oil and shea butter with skin lightening papaya extract.

With the small but, somewhat, elegantly designed booth, my attention was indeed caught, hence, my apparent reaction — gravitating towards it and immediately starting a conversation with none other than the creator and owner herself, Neva. I had asked a few questions about her products and online availability.

Neva generously informed me of some of the key ingredients she used and a brief background on how her brand came about and how she entered into the beauty industry. She told me that she battled over skin asthma and some other skin irritation, which led her to opt for a more natural and organic product. Her frustration with what’s available in the market moved her to create her own.

Moreover, Neva graciously prodded me to sample the body butter in berry & green tea. With a small portion, I was able to easily spread it over my skin — surprisingly covering a relatively large area — and it left a very cooling and more importantly light and non-greasy effect on my skin. It was glorious. I also had a sample of her hand sanitizer, one of the important things you should have in your bag, and it was also light and non-greasy, unlike its more commercial competitors.

I’m so proud to say that, yes, Leyende is a local brand, proudly Philippine-made. With that, I’m quite certain I’ll be featuring more of Leyende in the future.
