As the summer grows nearer, your color choices may begin to lean more toward the tropics.

yves-saint-laurent-tresor-dafriqueYves Saint Laurent’s ‘Trésor d’Afrique’ Collector Lip Color Palette is inspired by the warmth and exoticism specific to the African shores, and contains three lipstick shades (pearly pink, shiny orange and fuchsia) and two lip gloss shades (pearly plum and light shimmery pink). They are must-have staples for just about any of your spring and summer looks!

gloss-pur-largeNew on my radar this week: Based on Yves Saint Laurent‘s top selling lip gloss, Golden Gloss, YSL’s new Gloss Pur is sheer and glossy but not “sparkly” and comes in six hot new shades.

My favorite shade is Pure Coral, at left. It will look great as part of your flirty spring makeover!

New From Yves Saint Laurent: elle Intense

elle-intense-yves-saint-laurent I will get this fragrance if for no other reason than it is such a gorgeous bottle.  How is that for a review? :)  I like the original Elle scent well enough to wear it on semi-regular occasion, but honestly, I ADORE the bottle.  It is so – pink.  And gold.  It is beautiful and makes me so happy to see on my shelf!  Silly – I know.

This is the newest incarnation of the elle fragrance, elle Intense by Yves Saint Laurent.  It is a heavier version of the original scent with notes of raspberries, pink pepper and patchouli.   The bottle is a little more dramatic, but follows along the same gorgeous lines as the original, which puts it as an A+ in my book.  ;)

Are you an elle fan?  Will you try this one?

RIP Yves Saint Laurent

The fashion legend, Yves Saint Laurent, was laid to rest today in Paris.

Yves-Saint-Laurent-funeral

The icon and the influence of so many modern designers passed away early this week and the ceremony, with full military honors, was held today in the Eglise Saint-Roch in Paris.  Attending were so many well known people in the fashion and political world, but pictured above, in front of the coffin, are the French Minister of Culture, Christine Albanel, French President (and his wife) Nicolas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, Saint Laurent’s partner Pierre Berge and Paris Mayor, Bertrand Delanoe.

There is a wonderful article in the International Herald Tribune about the funeral if you want to read more of the details.  So sad – he was only 71, that is so young these days.
