The Perfect Nose (Job)

Do you like your nose? I personally am not fond of mine, but with a little contouring and highlighting, it will do for now. Another bout of skin cancer though, and I might just take advantage. – we will see. In today’s Clarion-Ledger is a little article about trends in rhinoplasty over the last few decades:
In the ’50s the look to have was the turned-up Barbie nose. It was a simple quick fix, Dallas plastic surgeon Jack Gunter told Allure magazine. He trimmed the cartilage, removed the hump, broke the bone to narrow the width and pinched the tip or left it round.
In the ’70s, times changed when Barbra Streisand refused to reshape her nose and a more natural appearance emerged.
By the ’80s, Princess Diana’s nose was considered aristocratic, Allure says. Today, imperfect features are thought beautiful, New Hampshire nose specialist Mark Constantian said. Sarah Jessica Parker and Giselle Bundchen have strong noses.
What do you think? Do you like a perfect little nose, or do you think an imperfect nose gives a person’s face some character?

Although I’m against nose cloning, I just can’t stand Barbara Streisand’s nose. She looks like a man to me with that bulk on her face! But, I’m for women doing whatever they want to make them feel beautiful, so if she wants her nose like that, go girl! I’m rather pleased with my nose (it’s not Barbie-like), so who am I to judge anyways?
Hey Ivy, thanks for stopping by, and for sharing your opinions. I tend to agree, but sure wish more people would appreciate their own natural beauty rather than feel the need to go under the knife. But I am keeping my options open.
Hope to see you back soon!
I used to hate my nose as it is quite big and bumpy. Now I don’t mind it at all, and even supermodels has more bumpy noses than I do. Things changes and all the things I used to hate I am now pretty pleased with. Thank god I didn’t have rich parents that offered to pay for surgeries!
Ha ha Agathe…I know what you mean. I am sure your nose is gorgeous, and it is part of what makes you, you!!
I have a straight, small, upturned nose. Even though, it was once considered the ideal nose – I still don’t like it from time to time. It’s sorta piggish and it’s not very dramatic.
I think Courtney Cox has the perfect nose – but I won’t ever go through the invasive surgery to get it.
I absolutly HATE my nose, it’s long and bumpy
I am very self-concious about it! I wish I could get surgery but my parents won’t let me!
i’m the same way Jacqueline! I’m only 13 and I can’t stand my nose. I’m so self concious and I can’t stand it what do I do!
hi, im still waiting for someone to respond, i need help!

i really hate my nose, it’s wrong in every way its the BIGGEST UGLYEST thing i ever seen i want to have plastic surgery
hi everyone, my nose is so bad. and i was wondering if i broke it purposley could it be straightened by a doctor?
oh, sorry. i forgot to say my nose has a bump on it!
hi, i really hate my nose more than everything, it makes me lack of self confidence. my nose is big n thick
!!!! I Need help! Im 14, and my nose is the WORST! Its FLAT And UGLY!! Any suggesitons??!
hi evry1,(especially sarah)
u r not the only1 Sarah….i do feel miserable just like u, at times but the fact is tht we seem 2 exaggerate the minor details of our nose at times..features which others dont even observe…once 1 of my pals referred2 the tip of my nose as a tomato(it really looks so in sum of my pics)…..imagine how embarassing it would hav been…..so chill gal…its just a teenage prob..as we r extremely conscious of our looks n obsessed wid the way we appeal 2 our opposite sex!!take it cool!
You know, I really had reconcilled with the size of my nose. I was really happy and even though I had to ‘pose’ and stage my photos so I could get a flattering angle, I finally made peace with my look. Then someone told me that my nose was like a round ball and my confidence went to ZERO :O
I really want surgery, but feel that it would be going against all that I believe in. I feel that I would be criticising God for what he gave me.
And something amasing happened to me one day. I was on music camp in the city and was near a train station and saw a man with absolutely no nose – i am serious and not making it up. I felt like this was a sign from up above to tell me to appreciate what I have. This moment I cerish and think I was ment to see that man.
Just something to think about anyways….but I swear I am no lieing ♥
I always kind of liked my nose. i never really thought about it till i was 12, at that time I got kind of obsessed (because of something in a book, probably Anne of Green Gables or something, they often talk about her nose, as being her only outright pretty feature, or something) at that time I thought my nose was big as in strong aristocratic big or something… and I was quite pleased… as I got older I no longer perceived my nose as big. i don’t know whether it would be considered a “perfect” nose or not, but maybe close. it’s medium in bridge height, length, width too I guess, quite straight with just the slightest bump at the very top. not quite pointy not quite round at the end. I gues maybe that is what people go for when they go for surgery? or something else? i could safely say my nose is something i would never even dream of changing, unless it were injured and I wanted to restore it. I would go for some orthodontia for my teeth, but leave my nose alone.
oh, and I have seen men with no noses as well. I’ve encountered some people here and there who were quite seriously disfigured, sometimes including noses missing. yes, it does make you appreciate what you have.
i never liked my nose
its big and bumpy sometimes i see all my friends with their non bumpy noses and i wished i had a nose like that.I don’t like taking pics because of my nose. I’m only 14
I really do have a bad nose! Im always thinking about it and stuff. Im very self conscious around other people (Boys =)) anf find it a little hard to be my self because of it! Its big and bump! I hate it!
Hi, i done my nose , i am 29. And believe me i wish i didin’t!! I lost me, everytime when i look at mirrow i feel sorry for what i did. My nose was not bad at all , but i was too sad and depressive and i convised that the problem was in nose. But no..the problems comes from head. I wish i can turn back time and said -no to surgery.
Im fifteen, and personally hate the living daylights out of my nose. It’s the only thing about me that Im self-conscious about. Its big, wide, and has a huge bump on it, and the end is wide and flat. Every picture I’m in, my nose looks hideous. I don’t want to ask my parents for rhinoplasty, because we don’t have the money, and then I’ll get a long lecture about being comfortable with yourself. I have actually been thinking about nose jobs for a long time, andI have done my research on the risks and benifits. I still want my nose done, for me. I’m really self conscious, and I will feel better if I get a nose job. But its expensive, and I’ll have to wait till I’m 18.
hi gabrielle, u kno wat,wen i was ur age i used 2 think d same…at ur age as an adolescent v all r anxious abt our looks.but may b after v grow a bit older n mature, v might ba ble 2 judge things better..now im more acceptable abt d way my nose looks!i think it is gud 4 u 2 wait 4 sumtime n if in future, wen u cn afford a nose job n cn judge ur looks better, u cn amke ur decision!may b a different sort of nice may not suit ur face n cn ruin ur existing beauty..so take a wise decision without any haste!best of luck dear!!!
i go through stages of liking my nose and hating my nose. in real life i think my nose looks stupid. it looks small and disproportionate to my face, the tip looks very round and the bridge is very undefined. but then it photos it looks very nice and slim with a nice tip, not too pointy or round. but then in other photos my nose looks crooked, with no bridge and just a big round lump at the end.
ive recently discovered shading and highlighting can help with how your nose looks, and now i dont leave the house without giving myself a defined bridge and a high nose.
hi rinka..i think wat u go thru isa common problem…u sumtimes like ur nose n sumtimes u hate it…v both r in a similar state of mind…but u like it shows tht ur nose isnt 2 bad n its likeable…v ovr analyse our nose most of d times..may b coz its right in d centre of our face..but our nose is mostly entirely different frm how v analyse it in d mirror or how v c it in a pic than how other see it!but im happy 2 c tht u r managing ur problem well…but im sure tht u hav a gud looking nose..so dont wori abt ur nose nymore n b happy!
I have been too preoccupied with my nose for years. As a result, I examine a lot of celebrity noses and have to say that rhinoplasties (nose jobs) really make people’s faces look unnatural. Many actresses have had them, but they actually looked better in the before version of themselves.
To all you teenagers, please know that your noses will look smaller as you mature. Most people’s noses look larger in their teens b/c the face grows at different rates.
Just hold on, it’s temporary. Also, women with generous or unusual noses often are them most striking ~ my sister has a generous nose, and it makes her look very beautiful and kind.
Be at peace, you are so much more than your noses!
Hi i am 22, and right now i feel more self conscious than ever about my huge bumpy nose. I feel depressed and feel like i dont even want a boyfriend until iv had a nose job. But i cant even tell my family because they are so against surgery. And i cant even afford it anyway.
