The Secrets of Coconut Oil!

According to Angela L. Bowman Wales of Lillian Skin Care, coconut oil is good for just about all our parts!

1153824_coconut_5* For hair – Massage a teaspoon of coconut oil into your hair – leave on for at least 10 minutes, then shampoo out. You can also add a small amount to your conditioner then rinse as usual. On dry hair, take a tiny amount and rub it in your palms and apply to the ends of your hair to control frizz and make your hair shiny and healthy.

* For skin – Before bed, apply coconut oil to your feet, then put on cotton socks. You’ll wake up with brand new feet. It also makes a great lip balm, shaving oil & eye makeup remover and is great all over for dry skin.

I’ve never heard of coconut oil but I’d love to try it on my legs after shaving; they get so dry and I love the smell of coconuts.

  2. Sarah says:

These are neat tips. I know some people who love the aroma of coconut who need to read these ideas.

  3. Rt says:

In India women warm coconut oil and apply it on their hair and leave it on for a few hrs if not overnight and than shampoo. Works as a great conditioner.

  4. LHE says:

Love the over-night foot moisturizer! Any one tried it and know if it works well!?

  5. Mineola says:

I’m a big believer in hot coconut oil treatments for hair- just be sure to keep it well away from your hairline and face, because it can block your pores and have disastrous results a few days later (break outs) (please, heed the voice of experience). That said, if you keep it in your hair and not on your face, it’s an affordable super conditioner- curly girls take note!

  6. Gambina says:

I have read many great things about coconut oil as of recent and it makes me want to go out asap to find some for myself. An online friend said they do oil pulling with coconit oil and it has made a huge improvement for herself and her kids who use it everyday. The power of nature is a wonderful thing!

I’m going to use this as part of a home spa day for my husband and I. I love coconut smell.

  10. Kathleen Root says:

    Interesting, worthy of a try.

  11. Helen says:

I have actually tried coconut oil. I felt it was not moisturizing enough for my body but I think that has something to do with the oil not penetrating deep enough — I’m not sure. Definitely works well as makeup remover and everything else mentioned above! I now use olive oil for my body. Much better (for me).

  12. Valerie says:

    wow so many uses

  13. Colleen C says:

I’ve never tried coconut oil – and my hair could use some help – now to find some!

  14. Christine says:

Leave it to mother nature….Thanks for the advice! I will be sure to try this..

  15. Valerie C. says:

I started using coconut oil in my hair to condition it in high school….somehow I’ve gotten away from it. It made my hair so shiny! Thanks for the reminder! I’m going to get some this week.

  16. mark says:

I actually use coconut oil in cooking, it is also great in lieu of butter on toast.

  17. Claudia says:

I like the comment regarding warming the oil… bet that helps with penetrating the hail follicles. Worth a try!

  18. Stacy says:

I can’t wait to try it on my feet and elbows.

  19. Debbie Terry says:

What a great idea. I love the scent!

  20. Christina Murray says:

I’ll try it on my feet! Everyone should make sure they test for allergies. I am allergic on my face to coconut, but not on my less sensitve areas like elbows and knees.

  21. Holly says:

That is pretty cool, I’ve never tried coconut oil in my hair, I ought to, it could do with some help.

  22. Jessica B. says:

Hmmm… I’ve very dry hair AND dry skin, so maybe coconut oil is worth a shot. Thanks to Mineola for the warning about clogging pores on your face; that’s good to know. I’ll have to check this out!

  23. julia frost says:

god bless the coconut. I have quite a few moisturisers with coconut in it
