The Story Behind Bio Oil

Last week, Bio Oil hosted a luncheon for top beauty bloggers, where we learned about the origin of the product, its uses, and why it actually is pretty darn unique.
The lunch/lecture was presided over by the absolutely fantastic Dr. Ilyse Lefkowicz, a NYC-based dermatologist, who explained Bio-Oil is made from PurCellin Oil, a recreation of the preen gland oil of ducks.
During preening, a duck secretes oil from its preen gland and distributes it over its entire plumage in the familiar twisted-neck action that one often associates with ducks – doing this creates a thin, non-greasy layer on the surface of the feathers without which water would not pearl off and the bird would struggle to swim.
By basing Bio Oil on this, PurCellin helps spreadability and targeted absorption.
That’s not where the benefit ends. It’s a powerhouse of oils and vitamins, like Vitamin A, Vitamin E, calendula
oil, lavender oil, rosemary oil, and chamomile oil.
The product is meant to help with everything from the appearance of scars to stretch marks, but I’ve been using it since the lunch on my dry skin patches at it’s awesome.
I’ve also heard whispers it helps fade those icky undereye circles, and I myself this week put it on a pimple…which is now gone!
Try it for yourself and tell me what you think – I’m hoping maybe they send me a care package of more!

Thanks for the review. With stress as high as it is, who doesn’t have dark under-eye circles these days? Who couldn’t use this? I sure hope they send you a ‘care’ package too!
