Sensa on 20/20 Tonight

Sensa on 20/20 Tonight

Have you heard about Sensa yet?  Well, that’s probably about to change.  Sensa is a totally new diet product, based on research by Dr. Alan Hirsch.  This is what they say about how Sensa works:
The scientific principle behind Sensa is remarkably simple. You may recall learning in biology class that smell and taste are connected. As you eat, the two senses work together to stimulate an area of the brain called the “satiety center,” which tells your body when it’s time to stop eating. By enhancing flavor (sensory input), Sensa Tastants help to enable the brain-stomach connection and trigger …read more

How To Eat Like A Hot Chick

So the first big news is – OMG – I got a Kindle.  w00t!
So one of the first books I went for, is How To Eat Like A Hot Chick.  Browsed through Skinny Bitch, but it just didn’t speak to me like HTELAHC.  That’s an ugly acronym, btw.
I am nowhere near done with it, but let me just tell you, my best friend and I could have written this book.  I absolutely can totally relate.  This book is not for the – um – folks with delicate sensibilities, it is chock full of f-bombs, bj’s and …read more

Jenny Craig Sponsors Queen Latifah’s Trav’lin’ Light Tour

My girl Jenny (LOL) is sponsoring Queen Latifah’s tour of small venues in support of her new album (dang, do we call these albums anymore? I am getting so old), Trav’lin’ Light. Interestingly enough, Queen is not going to be Jenny Craig’s newest spokesperson (too bad, wouldn’t she be awesome??), but Queen has taken on Jenny Craig in support of getting healthy to avoid type II diabetes, something VERY close to my heart as well. Here is what Queen has to say about it:

We felt my Trav’lin’ Light Tour would be a great opportunity to educate my …read more

Do you Wear Sports Bras?

Do you Wear Sports Bras?

You probably have figured out I am not an athlete (what gave you the first clue?? LOL).  But I have always loved sports bras just the same.  I go through athletic periods, and love to play tennis (but don’t do it NEARLY enough), and so when that sort of mood strikes me, it sends me out sports bra shopping.
I have recently been pointed to a site that sells lovely lingerie, and sports bras – HerRoom.com – and they have (admittedly VERY humorous, BUT, very helpful) videos that demonstrate “the bounce test” on quite a few different sports bra …read more

Jenny Craig Update: Week 4

Oy, I am so tired. Nothing to do with the diet, just more work on my plate than hours in the day to do it. The diet is going well, though admittedly, I am already finding myself groaning a little at my cuisine choices 4 weeks in. There are a few items that Jenny Craig offers though that I haven’t tried, so when my ordering time comes up next, in another week or so, I am going to venture out of the basic food offerings if I can. I had a salisbury steak with potatos, peas …read more

On Joining Jenny Craig

On Joining Jenny Craig

So, about a week and a half ago, I joined Jenny Craig .
As you can see from my *oh so lovely* videos, we have a problem. I have never, ever been truly skinny – at my skinniest as an adult, I was around 140 pounds (and am 5′ 9 for reference). Which, compared to now, was damned skinny. *Oh* to bring back those days – but they came along with lots of partying and what I call the beer diet – beer and bar food and dancing til the bars close. Awesome exercise!
So …read more

Stephen Tyler’s Beauty Regime

Um, yeah. I’m not sure if Stephen Tyler can *blame* his looks on a good beauty routine, lots of makeup or bad plastic surgery, but this is what he says makes him look so good at 59 (OMG Stephen Tyler is 59):
“I have a beauty regime. I have special cream I put on under my eyes every night. You have to look after yourself. “I stay slim by having sex – and sweating a lot while I’m on stage.” [Source]
So what do you think – plastic surgery or not? He sure does look odd to me… And …read more

Body Image Quiz

Your Body Image is 16% Unhealthy, 84% Healthy

You have a great body image. You know that no one looks perfect, and you’re happy the way you are.
Also, you don’t judge other people on their looks… and it helps them feel better about their own bodies!

How’s Your Body Image?

This test is all good and all – but it seems like it was missing something. Especially the “happy the way I am part.” I am not, but not psychotic to change it either. I guess that means my image is 84% ok. Who knows.

Livin La Vida Low Carb

Yeah, its that time of year – I am sure I will shut up talking about diet and exercise soon – but for now, I’m still working it out on my fab elliptical machine and trying to watch what I eat. So I’m talking about it.
I have been a proponent of a low carb diet from the first time I ever tried it – breaking that craving for sugar/carbs was every bit as horrid as quitting smoking. Well, darned near that bad. With withdrawals that are that bad, I have NO doubt that sugar …read more
