Embrace non-bloody limbs!

Just in case you have a tendency (like certain blondes who shall remain nameless…) to shave your legs while half-asleep and then suffer the scars of remembrance, having a good razor is probably a wise idea. We all have our faves – and I’ve tried (and failed) with a few, but I’m totally loving the new five-bladed Venus Embrace! (As is my non-shredded flesh!)
This was a razor especially designed for women. It has five blades that individually adjust to hug curves for a close, comfortable shave, and also has a ribbon of moisture that ensures a smooth glide, and …read more
no!no! Thermal Hair Removal

I am always on a quest for new ways to get rid of my unwanted hair. I keep looking at the Braun that I think SP recommended to me last year, but the thought of yanking hairs out one by one (or even 5 by 5) reminds me a little too much of the 80’s. LOL I would love nothing more than to never ever have to shave my legs again – I just HATE it. So, I am always right on the bandwagon to try something new in the hair removal arena.
So, here is the …read more
Beauty Beat – Sexy Legs!

Great legs are a beauty asset, but they quickly lose sex appeal when they are stubbly. Since we are quickly moving in to “leg season” here in the U.S., you might like some tips for getting the closest shave. First, soak in the tub or stand in the shower for a few minutes to allow your hair to soften. Not too long though, or your skin will swell up and make your shave not as close as you think it is. Exfoliate your legs first with soap or a scrub and using an exfoliating glove …read more
Medical Spas – Not Always Making You More Beautiful

Once again, I am behind. I have had this article for nearly a week, but didn’t want to let it go by if you all haven’t seen it. There are so many spas out there these days that are just plain ol not being run properly, and having procedures done improperly and not supervised by doctors. Be careful out there, and do your research before you go to one.
Laser treatments are so popular these days, they can remove age spots, sun spots, wrinkles and unwanted hair. I really have never given these things too …read more
Gilette Invests in Home Laser Hair Removal Research

Now we are talking – home laser hair removal. I just cannot bring myself to go into a doctor for hair removal. Too much expense, I just can’t rationalize it. I can, however, rationalize DIY laser removal. Unfortunately that isn’t available – yet. Gilette has just invested a big chunk of money into the development of a home laser system – so our time may be coming. [Source]
Now I am not saying laser in the doctors office is a bad thing – only that I am stingy with my cash and would rather shuck out …read more
Esthetic Plus Pink Tweezers for Breast Cancer Advocacy

Have you all noticed the plethora of pink products out there this year? My mother and I were at Bed, Bath & Beyond this past weekend and saw the “breast cancer pink” KitchenAid Mixers, blender, knife set – and tons of other bakeware all fashioned in pink, and I hope donating a significant percentage of their profits towards Breast Cancer research or awareness. Anyway, you know I fell in love, but that is better left to talk about at somewhere like Cooking-Gadgets, I suppose. The beauty folks have come out in full force this year with tools, …read more
Maine Shave

Maine Shave offers a variety of premium shaving products for men and women. I have been trying their Intimate Shaving Cream, and have really loved it. You don’t have to use much, and it really seems to provide your razor the slip it needs to do a great job, and leaves your legs feeling moisturized, not dried out and taut like regular soap will leave them. Here is what they say about it:
Our Maine Shave Intimate Shaving Cream contains all-natural skin softeners to give you the cleanest, closest, most comfortable shave every time. A soap base of …read more
Keira Knightley’s Fierce Eyebrows

And when I say fierce, it is not the good fierce! I think Keira is very beautiful, but what makeup artist in her right mind would leave those brows in that kind of shape? I know, I am a little fixated on eyebrows sometimes, but I really think they make a tremendous difference in your looks and they are a simple thing to groom properly, and most often, when I find someone beautiful to be odd looking, it is their overgrown brows (Jennifer Aniston). Here is Keira on the July InStyle cover:

Hair Removal – Veet!

Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming (which was what the last post started out to be – it sure went off on a wild tangent, eh?). Veet must be in the midst of a campaign, cause although I don’t recall outrightly being bombarded with ads or anything, I have seen this product around a lot lately. Not just the Veet that is competitive to Nair, but the Veet that is competitive with Nair that is removed with a pretty hot-pink bladeless razor! Like this:
Sugaring vs. Waxing

Do you know about sugaring? It is basically the same thing as waxing – with two main differences – no heat required, and easy to wash away mess. The concept is the same as waxing – spread a thick sticky substance over your skin, apply a strip, and zip it off. Works great!
I first tried sugaring in the day spa where I worked for several years, and it really works just as well as hot wax, with minimal fuss. Sugaring at home is a little different process, but for the most part works just …read more
