Water Is A Beauty Necessity Too

Sometimes I get tired of people telling me to drink water. My doctor tells me to drink water. Every diet that ever was created tells me to drink water. My mother tells me to drink water. Heck, even the restaurants are subtly telling me to drink water, as they set water down in front of me before they do anything else. Why do I need to drink all of this water?
Your body is made of water. Mostly. Common sense might tell you that if you quit drinking water, maybe you will shrink. Your friends tell you that they lost 10 pounds taking a diuretic–that can’t be a bad thing, can it? Oh yes it can. If you dehydrate your body, all you will do is become a dried up, sickly-looking person (see recent pictures of Lindsay Lohan for an idea of what that looks like). As part of this, your mouth and lips will dry out and crack and bleed. Your eyes will recede and your cheeks will hollow out. Your nose will dry up and bleed, your skin will lose its glow and elasticity, become dry and scaly, and you will wrinkle up like a prune. Your brain will dry up, potentially causing death or convulsions (if you are lucky). Not to mention all of the toxins in your body that will build up without sufficient water intake to wisk them away. Now, that doesn’t sound very beautiful, does it?
Drink 8 glasses of water a day to keep your body running well, your mind right, and your self beautiful!

So true! I’m back on weight watchers and really trying to drink as much water as I can stand. It’s made such a difference. I’ve even started putting lemons in my water to help me drink more of it.
I love water and I am not sure if the habit of drinking water was borne out of growing up in a tropical country where drinking water alleviates the heat a bit. Now that I am down under, I still *try* to drink as much water — when I’m bored or doing a report and couldn’t think of what else to say, I turn to water! Ha!
