Geek Tip: Bringing In Your PC For Repairs!

This is probably going to be the longest 1-2 weeks of my life. I sent my MacBook Pro in for repairs last Wednesday *cry* The night before I was still watching videos on my laptop, then I fell asleep while watching, and when I woke up the next day my laptop won’t turn on! I thought it was a simple case of drained battery. But unfortunately, after charging the battery for practically the whole day, my laptop still won’t start. So I will be laptop-less for the next week and so. And gosh, I’m totally realizing that I’ve been totally depended on my laptop for entertainment! I feel soooo bored, lost and lonely without my laptop, hahaha!

Here are five (5) things you should remember when bringing in your laptop for repairs. (My laptop breaking down was so sudden so I wasn’t able to do these things, though. Bleh)

  1. Clear your browser caches and history. Remember my blog post about the creepy repair men hacking their customer’s personal accounts? Self explanatory.
  2. Remove photos and videos you don’t want posted all over the internet, haha. See #1.
  3. Sync your calendar and contacts to your iPhones, mobiles phones, or PDA. All my payment schedules were on my iCal. Now I’m totally lost about which credit card and bills should get paid today or next week. Argh.
  4. Try to recall all the usernames and passwords of the websites you frequently visit. Seriously, I practically spent the whole day waiting for site admins to send me new passwords! Most of the sites in my laptop are auto-log in so I don’t really have to input passwords anymore. I ended up forgetting them, hahaha. Even usernames!
  5. Make sure you have online copies or sources of your emails and RSS feeds. I use my Apple Mail as feed reader. You can’t imagine how lost I am right now without my daily dose of news. So I had to rebuild my feed collection using Google Reader. I’m still losing a few sites, I think. Meh.
  6. Make sure you have other laptops and computers available! Seriously, I think I’m going thru a withdrawal from the internet, hahaha!
