Sony Vaio X: Smells Like MacBook Wanna-Be!

Sony has recently released their newest Vaio, the Vaio X. It’s claiming to be the world’s lightest netbook at 1.6 pounds. (Hmm, I wonder how many laptops have claimed to be the lightest…) The Vaio X is also pretty thin and sleek with only half-inch in thickness.
Now look at the Vaio X’s keyboard. Doesn’t that scream MacBook at you? The spacing, the shape of the keys, how the keys are protruded. Seems awfully familiar!
Anyhoo, let me stop rambling and I’ll provide you with the Vaio X specifications:
- 2GHz Intel Processor
- Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium
- 11.1″ widescreen display
- 2GB RAM
- Verizon Wireless Mobile Broadband Built-In
The Vaio X is available in black, and is also currently available in a limited Vaio Signature Collection Gold edition, featuring a sexy gold paint AND a 128 solid state drive. Wow.
Oh, and along with the announcement of the Vaio X, I noticed this little announcement in the Sony Style Website: Extended Service Plans – Sony’s got you covered. Hmm, Apple Care, is that you?.
Not that I’m complaining, I’m actually quite happy that other manufacturer’s are providing extended service care. It’s about time!
Price: starts at $1,299.00

Not to bad for a small notebook though. It’s hard to travel with the larger ones so I am glad they are compacting this one for travel and room.
Actually, it seems nicer than a macbook pro. Well, at least for me it is. Compared with what you’re getting from what you pay.
Oh and, just a correction about the keboard. It’s actually a vaio keyboard. Not a mac keyboard since vaio was the first one to use it years before mac did.
the thing with sony is that they are insanely priced but the battery life is soooo mediocre. for their price, i hope they’d release batteries that could last around 10hours. my toshiba NB205 is alreday “marathoning” 9hours of continuous computing/surfing. given sony’s price range, i could they can surpass the 9hour mark.
