In exactly 3 hours and 19 minutes, the Gadgenista will officially start the year 2009!
So before I actually leave 2008 behind, here’s a recap of the most memorable (and most coveted) gadgets (for me anyway!) for 2008!

Asus EEE PC. Of course, who can forget the Asus EEE PC. This little bugger started the whole Pocket PC In Your Purse fashion.
MSI Wind. After the EEE PC, UMPCs just started sprouting every where. And frankly speaking, the MSI Wind was the one UMPC (aside from the EEE PC) that actually caught my eye.

And it was because you can actually install OSX on it, making it the “Poor Man’s MacBook Air”!

MacBook Air. If there was a pageant for UMPCs, then the MacBook Air would definitely be Miss UMPC of the year. Everybody wanted one, even if it wasn’t exactly the “best” UMPC, technically speaking, around.

iPod. The iPod Nano had a lot of makeovers this year. From being sleek and shiny, to fat and aluminum-y, to extremely sleek and aluminum-y. And then ofcourse, there’s the iPod Touch.

RockBand and Guitar Hero World Tour. After that Guitar Hero Party that Blair Waldorf hosted in one of the Gossip Girl episodes last year, everyone wanted a Guitar Hero. But pfft, why have a solo guitar (ok, or maybe a duet) performance, when you can invite a couple of more friends over and have a Rock BAND party! In all honesty, the best parties I’ve attended this year are Rock BAND parties!

iPhone. Technically, the iPhone came out year 2007, but it was only in 2008 that the iPhone because usable to most countries!

That pretty much sums up the gadgets memorable to me!

What about you? What gadget was most memorable to YOU this 2008?

Oooh, I’m totally love the new colors of the Asus EEE PC: Cherry Red 901 and Purple 900 XP.
Nothing really new with them except for the colors though. But that’s still news-worthy! (Aside from the fragrant ASUS laptops, haha)
I wish I still went to school. I’ll probably be toting around the purple one, haha. So cute!
Features:

9 inch screen
1GB RAM
Windows XP

Cherry Red 901

Atom processor
N-wireless WiFi
12GB storage

Purple 900

16GB SSD storage
G-wireless WiFi
4-battery

It was my mom’s birthday yesterday and my siblings and I decided to give her an ASUS EEE PC for her 60th birthday!
I’ve been thinking of getting her the EEE PC ever since it came out, hoping it’ll help her to be more comfortable with technology.
For one thing, my mother does NOT have an email address, and just the very thought makes me sad. Hehehehe.
It was just so funny when my mom open the gift. She stared at it and uttered, “What’s this??”
I wanted to slap my forehead silly right then and there.
Hopefully after a week or so my mom [...]
Post from: Gadgenista

I wanted to slap my forehead silly right then and there.

Hopefully after a week or so my mom would already know how to surf the internet by herself, send email and watch YouTube. She’d be hanging at coffee shops, sipping latte and surfing on her spanking, brand new white ASUS EEE PC!

Her reaction to the gift was just so classic really.

So how many of you guys out there have computer literate parents? Hehehe.

Juan of The After Mac says comparing the Asus EEE PC and the Mac Book Air is an unfair comparison.
“You’re comparing the eee pc that’s about $400 compared to the MacBook Air that’s $1800. Spec’s wise it’s 800Mhz Intel Celeron vs. 1.6 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8GB HD vs. 80GB HD, 512MB RAM vs. 2GB RAM. etc” – Juan of The After Mac

Juned of A Feed Is Born started the Asus EEE PC vs Mac Book Air thread in our b5media google groups.
Juan of The After Mac says comparing the Asus EEE PC and the Mac Book Air is an unfair comparison.

“You’re comparing the eee pc that’s about $400 compared to the MacBook Air that’s $1800.
Clair of New Linux User would choose the Asus EEE PC simply because it suits her need of making her more mobile in terms connecting online.

Jayvee of CellPhone9 doesn’t see the need of getting a MacBook Air since he got a black MacBook several months ago and he firmly believes in “waiting the first iteration out”.

I personally think the Mac Book Air is a “glorified” Asus EEE PC and it’s a “to-be-seen-with” gadget you bring to Starbucks or to whatever coffee shop you hang out at. But if you have the money, why not?

What about you?
