Will Point and Shoot Cameras Become Extinct

It’s going around the rumor mill. Nokia is set to release a 12MP camera phone next year, by 2010.
With that in mind, do you think point and shoot cameras will eventually become extinct? Or if not extinct, the sales will probably plummet, don’t you think?
Most phones nowadays have atleast 3MP cameras already. I’m sure in a year or two, it won’t be surprising if phones carry atleast 5MP (or 8MP, even!) cameras.
