Say Yes to Cucumbers, Carrots, and Tomatoes

Would you like to try beauty products infused with fruits and veggies?  If your answer is yes, then you’ll love Yes To products.  Recently I met with Yes To Inc. founder, Ido Leffler, who gave me an overview of his paraben-free products made with organic fruits and vegetables and 26 purifying and moisturizing minerals from the Dead Sea.

I only recommend beauty products that either I have tried or would try.  And besides being good for you, Yes To products are available at a drugstore or supermarket near you and affordably priced from $2.99 – $14.99.

“We believe in [promoting] a healthy, balanced lifestyle,” says Ido, who grows an organic, herb garden at his Marin County, California home.  ”We say yes to the real you [and encourage] you to be happy with who you are.”

I was already a fan of the Yes to Carrots Hair and Scalp Hair Mask ($12.99), which leaves my hair soft and shiny. But Ido hipped me to two of the brand’s newer products – Yes to Cucumbers Natural Glow Facial Towelettes ($5.99 for 30 wipes) and Yes to Tomatoes Truly Terrific Body Butter ($12.99).

The rinse-free, all-natural towelettes are formulated with cucumber to soothe and soften; aloe vera to hydrate and maintain the skin’s elasticity; and green tea and Dead Sea minerals to detoxify, exfoliate, and rejuvenate.  I tested the refreshing wipes after I worked up a sweat in Zumba class.

I love a good body butter and Truly Terrific Body Butter lives up to it’s name.  The anti-oxidant rich moisturizer goes on thick, but not greasy. The combination of anti-inflammatory and vitamin-rich tomato and watermelon, free-radical-fighting Rooibos (red tea), and anti-bacterial rosemary gives the body butter a clean, fresh scent and helps provide penetrating, lasting hydration.

Celebrity Makeup Tips for Valentine’s Day

Pucker up for Valentine’s Day.  Whether you’re stepping out with your baby or planning a fun girl’s night out with your crew of single ladies, your lip color should pop.
Here are a few tips from celebrity makeup artist Christopher Drummond (he’s worked with Jennifer Lopez, Paula Patton, and Kimora Lee Simmons) to create the perfect lip look:

To feel more romantic, use naturally-scented lip products.
If you don’t like bright red lipstick, wear a soft red gloss instead.
Valentine’s Day is all about kissing the one you love. Be sure to keep your lips hydrated with shea butter. This natural ingredient keeps …read more

Miss J Will Unleash Your Inner Supermodel

The comical antics and biting wit of runway coach extraordinaire J. Alexander is part of what keeps me coming back to “America’s Next Top Model” cycle after cycle.  Okay, that and the makeovers where the aspiring models inevitably cry because their long locks are buzzed or because their new weaves are too tight.

This six-foot-four diva from the Bronx tells those girls like it is. If they can’t walk, he mocks them.  After “Top Model” contestant Amina’s busted weave was cut off, he strutted around wearing it as a faux-fur vest. Mind you, all of this taunting is done with love. …read more

Are You Wearing Red for Heart Health Today?

Today (Feb. 5) is National Wear Red Day to support the fight against heart disease. Surprisingly, heart disease (not cancer or diabetes) is the No. 1 killer of American women.  So let’s all show we care today and wear something red!
Another way to lend support is to make a donation to assist medical research, raise awareness, and  fund education and community programs that help women live longer, stronger heart-healthy lives.
Seven simple steps to improve your heart health are:

Stay active
Eat better
Reduce your blood sugar
Manage your blood pressure
Control your cholesterol
Lose weight
Stop smoking

Hot Valentine’s Day Jewelry Under $20

Nothing says “I love you” like statement jewelry that actually spells it out. So this Valentine’s Day, whether you want to drop a less than subtle hint to that special someone or simply treat yourself to a little self-love, these cute, kitschy accessories will help you wear your heart on your sleeve.
I adore these dainty Love Studs ($12). I haven’t been to Urban Outfitters in ages and plan to pop by  just to purchase the earrings.
This pretty Filigree Heart Locket ($19.99) on a 24″ chain looks like a rare vintage find.
This Sterling Silver Love Ring ($16.99) spreads a message of love …read more

Jennifer Beals, An Ageless Hot Mama

It seems like just yesterday that I dancing along with Jennifer Beals’ welder by day and stripper (who didn’t really strip) by night “Flashdance” character, Alex, to the Irene Cara theme song.  So it’s hard to believe Jennifer Beals is 46!
Part of what helps “The Book of Eli” star and mother of a four-year-old daughter maintain her youthful glow is not sweating the small stuff (cause it’s all small stuff).
“I try to stay in the moment as much as I can and find whatever joy I can in that moment, no matter what is is,” Jennifer told First for Women …read more

Jennifer Hudson’s Amazing Grammy Night

Have you noticed how svelte Jennifer Hudson looks lately? The dream girl was a true diva on the red carpet in her body conscious dress designed by Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham.
The outfit reminds me of Sean Young in “Blade Runner” and J. Hud’s Geisha girl bangs, tights, and black pumps make the futuristic, glam ensemble complete.
Before the Grammys, the Academy Award winner told her old “American Idol” pal Ryan Seacrest on E!’s pre-show that she lost her baby weight (she has a son with hubby David Otunga) by walking every day and eating right.
Jennifer is an inspiration to Hot Mamas …read more

Grammy Fashion: the Good, Bad, and the Ugly

At last night’s 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, some of our favorite stars were Hot and some were definitely Not.  Here’s a roundup of red carpet looks Hot Mama Daily thinks were good, bad, and just plain ‘ole ugly.
The Good
This is how to wear winter white.  Rihanna redeemed herself after the cotton-candy catastrophe she wore to Clive Davis’s pre-Grammy party. I love the Elie Saab creation’s high collar, ruffles, and draping.
Keri Hilson’s blush-colored Dolce & Gabbana gown is stunning.  Too bad the Best New Artist nominee’s bosom buddies are practically spilling out of the strapless, mermaid gown.  That cheapens Keri’s overall …read more

Hot or Not? Pre-Grammy Toni Braxton

Hot or Not? Pre-Grammy Toni Braxton

Toni Braxton has reclaimed the short haircut that made her famous.  And I love the layered silver necklaces.  What I’m not so sure about is the tight black bodice and stretch pants.
The black outfit is slimming and sexy, and a far cry from the booty-baring dresses she used to wear to award shows.  But I’m on the fence with this one. Although I do have a definite opinion about her shoes.  I don’t like the bows at all.
What do think?  Is Toni trying too hard to look younger and current?  Or is she a Hot Mama no matter what she wears?
