Cute Maternity Style vs. Not So Cute Maternity Style

I will keep this short and to the point. As I’ve stated before, I’m totally loving Nicole Richie’s fashion choices as of late and it’s noteworthy because I’m all about having my Moms-To-Be and post-pregnancy ladies look hot.

There’s a good way to do it, and a not so good way.

Cute Maternity Style = Nicole Richie

Yes. Work that dress, Mama. Anything with an empire waist is PERFECTLY maternity friendly. In fact, it’s how I got through my pregnancy because I just refused to buy any maternity tops (until I hit my 8th-9th month. Then it just got to be silly and I had no choice). Nicole’s hair looks healthy and magnificent. Loving the ’swept-to-the-side’ bangs (hmm…I may have to try that). Her makeup is very simple and flawless. Loves it! Ms. Richie is impressing me every day. Well done.

Not So Cute Maternity Style = Christina Aguilera

Le sigh. I love Christina and her voice, but I gotta be fair and call ‘em like I see ‘em. True, she has yet to confirm her pregnancy (and really, does she even HAVE to??) but this outfit is wrong on a few levels. For one, the shirt/dress thing (hellooooo, Britney?!) with black stockings…or are those supposed to be leggings? Either flippin’ way: All. Wrong.

And is she actually braless? I mean, for real? Please say it ain’t so because it certainly looks like it to me. Either that, or the bra she’s wearing is screaming for mercy as her ‘bad boys’ are resting on each side of her belly. No. No. No! Not. Hot.

Second, her makeup. Um… Wayyyy too much eyebrow pencil action going on there. And the hair… Lord… The hair… No, no, no! Christina, sweet pea, enough of the Marilyn Monroe thing. We get it, OK? It’s just annoying at this point, really. Wait–aren’t pregnant women supposed to ease up on the hair dying/bleaching? Or is that an old wives’ tale? Whatever. Enough already, Christina. Let’s keep your Hot Mama membership up-to-date, ‘kay?
