How Sherri Shepherd Lost 41 lbs!

Both Sherri Shepherd and I made a vow in May to get bathing suit-ready. At least one of us accomplished her goal. While I’m still striving to slim down, tone and tighten (I have a fab personal trainer at Crunch Fitness; more on her later), just in time for her new sitcom on Lifetime, Sherri claims to have lost a whopping 41 pounds and dropped 10 dress sizes (from 16 to 6).

According to the Aug, 31 issue of OK! magazine, “The View” co-host worked with a trainer she dubbed “The Evil One” several times a week. Since Sherri, 42, is diabetic and her mother died of diabetic complications at 41, changing her eating habits to low-glycemic foods was critical. Thanks to the Fresh Diet plan (meals and snacks are prepared in accordance with “Dr Sears’ Zone Diet Program”), she curbed her appetite for fatty meats and added more fruits and veggies to her daily routine. She still, however, allows herself cheat days for M&M’s and Ruffles.
Here are highlights of Sherri’s Fresh Diet:
Creamy Banana Oatmeal: Oatmeal is a great source of protein and one of the best ways to rev up in the morning. Sherri tops hers with toasted almonds and strawberries. Yummo!
Salad Nicoise: This protein-packed salad consists of grilled tuna, hard-boiled eggs, cherry tomatoes, and haricort vert. Who else is hungry?
Cinnamon Pear Cheesecake: This low-cal slice of cheesecake sounds divine. Hmmm, perhaps there’s a Fresh Diet plan in my future.

I for one am extremely proud of Sherri’s dedication and recent weight-loss victory. Not only was she courageous for sharing her journey with millions of viewers, she is also sharing a valid message about diabetes. Many of us are more concerned about the aesthetics about our weight, not the detrimental health issues it can cause. So I respect Sherri for using herself as an example to deliver that important message. On a lighter note, I found many women “hating” on Sherri and remaining unconvinced about her size reduction which has been addressed in my own post about her, (http://sanona.wordpress.com/2009/08/25/the-new-view-of-sherri-shepherd/). Sherri is known for her candor, so why would her new size be untrue. Spread the love!
