I almost hate to admit it, but MTV’s “The Hills” is one of my guilty pleasures. Still, I’m disappointed by the show’s blatant lack of diversity. I suppose Audrina is the most “ethnic” girl on the show because she’s the only brunette in a sea of bottle blondes. So I looked forward to Whitney Port’s New York City spinoff, “The City,” where I thought for sure there’d be at least one woman of color represented in the cast. I was wrong.
Overall, “The City” doesn’t look much like the Big Apple I live in. So I was pleasantly surprised to catch tonight’s premiere episode of “Daddy’s Girls.” This spinoff of the wholesome “Run’s House” stars Rev. Run’s lovely daughters Angela (pictured on the right) and Vanessa (pictured on the left), and chronicles the sisters’ Los Angeles escapades — from the West coast launch of their Pastry footwear and clothes boutique to blind dates and shopping sprees.
Finally, there’s a portrait of young Black women with style, class, and poise on MTV.

hey I would love to meet these girls. I watch run’s house and now daddy girls all the time. Another thing vanessa people say I look like you.
It’s great to to see black people on MTV. I am in my 30s. I think the girls represent themselves very well. I do love the Hills and the City, but I never see any black people.
Hey GIRLS!!!
I have never commented on any TV show, however, I watched Daddy;’s girls for the 1st time last night and I JUST HAVE TO SAY I laughed my butt off those girls are TOO funny and absolutely adorable…I wish I had 4 friends just like them it would be nothin but Good times!! BTW I am not a woman of color. It’s obvious these girls are very well brought up and have outstanding values and live life with a great sense of humor…keep up the great work girls A HUGE FAN
I love these girls and their hair is FIERCE HUNNY FIERCE. Who does there hair. And my girl Angela how does she curl her hair like that. Its beautiful.
WOW!! I’m so excited to see young black positive images on tv. I just watched my first full episode and I am hooked. We would love for you to come to Austin for the Miss Juneteenth Scholarship Pageant and share in the Juneteenth celebration with our contestants (ages 4yrs to 12th grade). We’re honoring father’s this year and love the way you continue to honor and respect him. Good luck to you both! We’ll continue to watch your shows.
I love The Simmons girls!…I’m a faithful fan!…lol!!…They inspire me and are my rolemodels!…They go through what regular teenagers go through just 10 times worse due to their last name and their background!…I love them!…=)…Can’t say it enough!…Well…Can’t wait for the all new episode to come out!…=)
I’ve been watching Runs House since the beginning and love it. I think it an amazing show for every member of a family and stands alone on MTV and many, many other networks. For me, the jury was out for “Daddy’s Girls” until tonight. (Episode 3). . .hear me out. Angela showed herself to be highly unprofessional, when they ran into that club promoter (although he was skeezy as anything). The first thing she ever wants to do when face with a decision, is call daddy. The premise of the show is that they acknowledge the fact that they have been handed an opportunity but still need to make success happen for themselves. Yet, the show fails to display any decision made in the face of adversity. They are able to see their ideas to fruition with very few road bumps. Whereas someone with far better ideas yet no silver spoon, struggles and sacrifices everything for years and may never even have a chance because they have to consider real life too. Nothing against A&V, they didn’t pick their life. . .they did take the show though. And the editing will do them no justice as long as it pins them as “Daddy’s Girls”
I love this show! I have watched “Runs House” forever! I always wished i was one of them! I especially love Angela’s hair. I have hair just like hers but there’s no way mine would grow to be that long. I want to know how she grew it out so long, so fast? Is it really her real hair? I think it is.
I am like everyone else. I LOVE these girlz! My two year old daughter seems to love them too. Last night was our first time watching the show. I am so glad MTV has created this show. Not only for african american girls, but all girls alike. They are a true example that not all “black” girls are not up to no good. For my daughter’s sake and all young afro american girls, they are a positive influence and I am happy they are willing to publicize their lives to show that not all black girls have a house full of children, no husband, on welfare and going no ware fast!
Keep up the good work ladies. We are watching and are very proud of you!
I’m so proud of these young women. Keep up the good work and allways keep God first and your parents. I Love You.
