Oscar Fashion: Hot Or Not?

Let’s face it, we don’t really watch the Academy Awards to see who wins. We watch to see what the stars are wearing. So here’s my take on some of the Oscar-night fashion:

Far be it for me to criticize Beyonce if she enjoys looking like a mermaid at every red carpet affair. But I wish the young and beautiful singer would step out of her comfort zone and find a stylist who can give her a more contemporary look. Sorry B, but this couch cover-reminiscent dress from your own House of Dereon collection was not hot.

Alicia Keys was stunning in this raspberry gown. Beyonce should take notes on Ms. Keys’ style evolution. Hot. For the Vanity Fair Oscar after party, she changed into an equally eye-catching canary dress (see the photo below)…

But what was up with the wig and overly dramatic makeup? Not hot.

Heavenly Halle Berry would look good in a potato sack and she looked elegant (as usual) in this gold and black tulle Marchesa creation. I like (not love) the dress, but I wish it supported her bosom buddies a little better. Kinda hot.

This is a whole lotta dress for such a little lady. Jada Pinkett Smith’s one-shoulder, white bejeweled gown looks like it was made with fabric left over from an Elvis costume. My verdict? Not hot.

I agree on all of it. Beyonce’s dress was a disaster. I wonder if she planned on being the worst dressed?
It looked like they just slapped Alicia’s wig on. You can see her hair picking out on the sides.
