Skin Cancer Awareness – With Fantabulous-ness Of Course!

Most of my daily readers know that this blog is all about fun beauty and fashion, but sometimes we have to get on a serious topic–a deadly serious topic such as Skin Cancer. I know, I know, why talk about something that can be as depressing as The Big “C”, but ladies to be fabulous is to be a HEALTHY, n’est pas?

And now that Memorial Day Weekend aka the “Unofficial Start of Summer” is upon us, I’m here to help find various way of keeping your skin healthy and beauuuutiful this summer and beyond! See? I can always put a fun, Hot Mama spin on things *wink!*

First things first, whether its summer, fall, winter or spring, no matter where you live, no matter what the temperature is outside, you should ALWAYS start with your first layer of skin protection, and that’s with a lotion/moisturizer with an SPF with a minimum of 15. This includes your facial creams and moisturizers, ladies! Very, very important. I always say it’s the hands, neck and face that show one’s true age so you want to keep those looking as fabu as possible at all times. The cheapest (and most surgery-free) way to do this is by using a moisturizer every single day. Period. Here are some greats ones I know of firsthand:

Gotta protect your lips as too! I’ve discussed a few different lip products on this blog before from Aveeno, Neutrogena (perfect for a quick dash of color) and my everyday fav, Blistex DCT.

Now that summer is approaching, can’t you picture yourself lying on a fabulous beach (oh okay, or your backyard/front porch/terrace/patio) looking amazing, with a cool drink in your hand, reading that steamy novel you can’t put down…and with a diva-live floppy straw hat? You gotta have the hat! The ‘look’ isn’t complete with out it. And what a perrrrfect way to shield your face & skin from the strong rays of the sun? And last but not least, top it off with movie star/diva sunglasses that have both UVA and UVB protection:

Unless I find a crazy special on sunglasses while browsing at my local mall, I normally allow myself a splurge on name-brand sunglasses since they’ll last awhile.

I usually treat myself to Gucci’s (that I get from a fav. retailer that I know and trust on eBay). However, I found some great ones (particularly style # GG1562) on Bluefly.com. Comes in black, dark brown and grey:
