Allison Iraheta blew me away on Season 8 of “American Idol.”  And the powerhouse-piped singer is only 16!  What I don’t love is her unruly, witchy woman hair and her questionable fashion sense.
 
 
Here, Allison is posing on the red carpet for MTV’s Los Premios 2009 Awards in Los Angeles, in what looks like a shiny, silver prom dress.  The bubble dress isn’t the best (the bow, and did I mention that it’s super shiny), but if her hair weren’t a complete bird’s nest, Allison’s look might be more youthful and salvageable.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.  Jordin Sparks is a talented beauty.  Her skin and hair are flawless.  Her new, Pat Benatar-esque single “Battlefield” is Generation Y’s “Love is a Battlefield.” And the “American Idol” champ can light up a room with her mega-watt smile.

On a positive note,  your hair and makeup were flawless on last night’s highly entertaining (performances by Fergie and the Black Eyed Peas, Lionel Richie, Cyndi Lauper, Kiss, and more) and shocking (boy next door Kris Allen defeated glam rock favorite Adam Lambert) “American Idol” finale. Hot Mama Daily officially endorses Allison Iraheta as a serious contender for the next “American Idol“ title.  I also love Danny Castro, but since he’s not a girl I can’t give him as much blog love.  

Sixteen-year-old Allison is a vocal powerhouse and her edgy fuchsia hair, quirky personality, odd bottom braces, and rocker fashion sense make her a standout contestant.

I fell in love with this style of colorful earrings made with thread while vacationing in Brazil.  I made a beeline for the earrings when I spotted them near Ipanema Beach.  When I returned home and wore the thread earrings around New York City, I received so many compliments that I started selling them as a side hustle.  
Several years later, the trendy handcrafted earrings are still in fashion and a favorite with big city stylistas and TV stars like “American Idol” Season 7 contestant Syesha Mercado (see below photo).

Move over Oprah, there’s a new celebrity weight loss story in town.  While searching for pre-Grammy award photos, I found one of Season 3 American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino and did a double-take.  The last time I saw Fantasia, she had a hideous hairdo and was chunkier than usual. Well, look at the recording and Broadway star now!  
Fantasia has made headlines in recent months for nearly losing her home due to an unpaid debt, but was all smiles at Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy Gala.  She looked slim, trim and glamorous, and her hair and makeup was fresh and modern.
