The ladies of hip-hop were out in full force at the VH1 Hip-Hop Honors at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.  The show airs October 13th at 9 p.m., and celebrates the 25th anniversary of Def Jam Records.
As expected, the fashions were hit and miss.  Which hip-hop diva looked Hot and which one was a Hot Mess?  Check out the following photos and let me know what you think.

Ashanti has been poppin’ up a lot on Hot Mama Daily’s radar lately.  Here  the shapely singer is at the premiere of the new Harry Potter flick.  While I admire Ashanti’s bold, mix-and-matchy color combination, I’m not sure if this outfit works.
What do you Hot Mamas think?  Do you like the yellow top paired with the light blue skirt and the gray and black shoes?  One thing I am certain of, however, is I’m not fond of the peep toe bootie/sandal trend.  The last thing your feet need in the summertime is to be encased in leather.

As promised, I’m back with my review of Ashanti’s turn as Dorothy in the off-Broadway revival of  ”The Wiz.”  And guess what?  She doesn’t suck.  In fact, the R&B princess’ voice is stronger than I’ve ever heard it.  
 
 
Although the production itself feels a bit dated, the enthusiastic cast have fun with a timeless story and songs that will inspire you to ease on down memory lane.  Tichina Arnold, best known for her roles on “Martin” and “Everybody Hates Chris” is a riveting, vocal powerhouse as the evil witch Evillene.  And Dawnn Lewis from “A Different World” is delightful and …read more

Ashanti is starring as Dorothy in a new, off-Broadway revival of “The Wiz.” The R&B-pop princess has some big shoes to fill.  Tiny dynamo Stephanie Mills originated the role on Broadway and superstar Diana Ross revised the part in the film version — based on the Judy Garland classic “The Wizard of Oz.”

We haven’t heard much from Ashanti lately.  Which is actually cool with me since I never really thought the R&B songbird could …er…sing.  The sexy starlet, however, is wise to keep herself in the public eye since absence does not make the heart grow fonder in show business.
