A “VH1 Divas” concert hasn’t aired in four years, and for the first time ever the artists will perform at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) Howard Gilman Opera House in Brooklyn.  Paula Abdul will host, so that in itself should be interesting to watch, and the evening also features honorary Hot Mamas Kelly Clarkson and Adele (no comment on Miley Cyrus being on the bill).

I’m looking forward to seeing these ladies do their thing solo and during the show’s surprising duet pairings.

Here are 5 tips on how to look hot without looking sleazy:

Members Only Leather Liquid Leggings

1) She’s Got Leggings: This trend continues to have….legs.  I must admit that black leggings look good paired with long tunics and worn under billowy skirts. But I can’t quite get used to many of you ladies wearing leggings (and only leggings) with short tops.  Even worse, some have mistaken opaque tights or regular pantyhose for leggings.  Not a good look.

2) Put Ya Freakum Dress On: If you’ve got it, I say flaunt it.  Although a tight dress should accentuate your assets, it’s best to leave something to the imagination.  And remember that this type of dress is strictly for a house/beach party or the club; not an office party, wedding, or family gathering.

3) Maximize Your Mini:  A mini-skirt or mini dress can be a great fashion statement. But a mini that’s too short, too revealing, or too tight isn’t hot; it’s hoochie.  Sorry Mariah, who in the above photo is showing way too much cleavage and a little too much leg.

4) Classy Cleavage: Showing a little decolletage makes most women feel more feminine and flirty.  And men of course love it.  However, keep it classy and don’t let your cleavage runneth over.  

Keep the clear heels at home.

 5) High-heels, Not Stripper Pumps: High heels have never been my thing. But I envy Hollywood A-listers like Rihanna, who struts about in designer stilettos like they’re sneakers. Stripper pumps, however, are not high-fashion. And if you have a pair of clear heels, save them for “play” time at home.

“The line really exudes a different side of my personality, which I am grateful I can express,” Beyonce explained in a press statement.  ”The ‘Sasha Fierce’ line is for the confident, sensual and daring side of a woman.”

In Women’s Wear Daily, Mrs. Knowles describes the edgy, back-to-school line as a toned down interpretation of Beyonce’s tour costumes designed by Thierry Mugler.  I remember the avant-garde music video, “Too Funky,” Mugler directed for George Michael; it featured a young Tyra Banks and another model flaunting a metal glove.  Sound familiar? 

Highlights of the “Sasha Fierce” line include sportswear, handbags, footwear, and jewelry, which will retail for $20 -$125.

The web retailer recently launched the interactive “Fit to Flatter” feature on its website and as an iPhone application, which educates women on which cuts, fabrics and styles they should wear, according to their body type.

“Fit to Flatter” asks questions such as “Where do you gain weight?” and “What are your best features?” and based on my answers apparently I’m “Pear” shaped — not a description I like but one that seems accurate considering I have a thin-ish waist and fuller hips.

Beyonce is the “Pear” style icon (this, I like) and women with this body type should select clothing with wide collars and details around the bust to balance our lower body. A-line skirts, flared skirts, fitted waists and belts worn at waistline work best.

I’m still wondering, however, if Ms. Houston still has a problem.  Ummm, those of you who saw her cameos on her former husband’s reality show, Being Bobby Brown, know what I mean.  Let’s hope not.   She looks healthy and beautiful on the album cover and in these photos from a recent listening event in London.

This is shocking news considering the makeup maven’s television and editorial ads feature celeb beauties of color including Beyonce, Eva Longoria Parker, and Kerry Washington. 

According to reports, “France’s highest court was told that the group had sought an all-white team of sales staff to promote Fructis Style, a haircare product made by Garnier, L’Oréal’s beauty division.”

Well, Hot Mamas, I guess this means that we’re not worth it. Will this ruling stop you from purchasing  L’Oréal products?
