One of the best things about writing Hot Mama Daily is all of the cool fashionistas and designers I have a chance to meet, like Seville Michelle Anastos. The New Yorker recently launched her own shoulder jewelry called babette epaulette.
Find out more about the crafty stylist:
Hot Mama Daily: How long have you been making the shoulder jewelry?
Seville: I came up with the concept in July 2009 and by October 2009 I designed the full line.
HMD: What’s your inspiration for starting the jewelry line?
Seville: I was working with a pop star, Nelly Furtado, and imagined all of the beautiful things I would …read more
What Will You Be For a Hot Mama Halloween?

Vampires are still hot. But thanks to “The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” the monster currently atop Hollywood’s A-list is the werewolf. Or better yet, as Shakira has so nimbly introduced, the She Wolf! Problem is, I don’t want to be either for Halloween.
A witch is always an easy costume to throw together — a clingy black dress, black boots, and a pointy black hat. My hairdresser plans to dress up as Wonder Woman and her stylists will be Cleopatra and Foxy Brown. Great ideas.
If a sexy costume is your thang, Edressme has some pretty hot dresses on sale that can be easily …read more

Rihanna is one of the best dressed members of the young Hollywood set. She has fun with fashion and it shows. The pop star is also aware of the paparazzi following her every move, so she’s always dressed to impress (or shock depending on the hour and her mood).
Here are photos of several attention-grabbing outfits Rihanna wore out and about in New York City during the month of September. Based on these fashion statements, I can’t wait to peep her October wardrobe!
Rihanna shows her flair for avant fashion in this draped black mini with a matching hood and jeweled boots. …read more
How to Dress Hot, But Not Sleazy

We’re all Hot Mamas here, right? Yet, there’s a thin line between dressing sexy and looking like you belong on a street corner.
Here are 5 tips on how to look hot without looking sleazy:
1) She’s Got Leggings: This trend continues to have….legs. I must admit that black leggings look good paired with long tunics and worn under billowy skirts. But I can’t quite get used to many of you ladies wearing leggings (and only leggings) with short tops. Even worse, some have mistaken opaque tights or regular pantyhose for leggings. Not a good look.
2) Put Ya Freakum Dress On: …read more
Hot or Not? Rihanna’s Mohawk
July 21, 2009 by Tracy Hopkins

Young music starlets are making some hair raising personal style statements. First P. Diddy protegee Cassie shaved one side of her lovely locks. Now Rihanna is sporting a fashionable mohawk. I personally think Rihanna could wear a garbage bag on her head and still look gorgeous.
And whereas I’m not particularly fond of Cassie’s severe haircut (see photo to the left), I’m really feeling Rihanna’s glamour girl mohawk (see photos below).
The style trendsetter wears the rocker hairstyle with panache, and because Rihanna’s ‘do was already short, now that her hair is buzz cut evenly on the sides, it’s not as schizophrenic as Cassie’s lopsided …read more

Fashion heavyweights flocked to New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET) Costume Institute Gala Benefit “Celebrating the Model as Muse.“ Here are a few fashion hits and misses that caught Hot Mama Daily’s attention.
The Beautiful
As usual, Eva Mendes knows how to work the red carpet and looks like a glamazon in this shimmery Calvin Klein gown. My vote? But of course darling, Eva is on fire. Caliente!
The Bold
Whatever you think of Rihanna’s style, you have to give the girl props for not being afraid to take risks. At first glance, I loved Rihanna in this daring Dolce and Gabbana tux — a masculine …read more

Fetty heart charm bracelet.
Lindsay Price wearing a Fetty necklace.
Red roses and a heart-shaped box of chocolate can be so cliche (Note to gift-shy husband: Honey if you’re reading this, I’m totally cool with cliches). This Feb. 14, steer your Valentine in a more fashion-forward direction.
Created and designed by Justin Tranter, lead singer of New York glam-rock band Semi Precious Weapons, FETTY is perfect for both lovers’ and lovers’ scorned. Rihanna and actress Lindsay Price are fans of the twisted jewelry line, currently sold at major retailers including Barneys. FETTY is also available at thefetty.com and karmaloop.com.

The Top 5 Hot Mama Moments of 2008

Overall, 2008 was a good year. I had my dream wedding and didn’t spend a fortune (read my budget bride story for the New York Daily News), honeymooned in the Bahamas, and visited Italy, Bermuda, and Las Vegas (travel always makes me happy). Personal highlights aside, 2008 was also a great year for style and pop culture. Here, I recap my favorite Hot Mama moments:
1) Michelle Obama is America’s first African-American first lady! It’s almost surreal that Michelle and her beautiful daughters — along with a bright guy named Barack you may have heard of — have forever changed the …read more
Rihanna’s Shoe Disturbia

Speaking of Rihanna and heels (see previous post), this is what the trendy singer wore during a casual afternoon stroll in La La Land with family and friends. Umm, I could have sworn she was auditioning for Tina Turner’s part in a remake of Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome.
Although I’m all for avant garde fashion, I can’t vouch for these good girl gone wild gladiator stilettos. What do you think? Is Rihanna taking a fashion step forward or making a style misstep?
