Angela Simmons has become quite the fashion plate.  Her ruffled little black dress is accented by red lips, a wide black belt , bangles, and purple pumps.  My verdict: Hot!

Ciara at Fashion Week

Ciara’s got  legs and she knows how to use them.  Her black leather shorts, paired with a simple black top and long black boots, certainly show off her gams.  But the ensemble lacks any real razzzle dazzle.  Perhaps an up-do and a few accessories would help.  My verdict: Lukewarm

Kelly Rowland at Fashion Week

Kelly Rowland could model in any “Fashion Show” in this sexy-yet-ladylike black dress. The satin-y dress fits her like a glove and I love how her long extensions are styled to one side. My vote: Call the fire department honey cause this dress is Hot!  (Sorry, my Debbie Allen alter-ego took over for a minute.)

Rosario Dawson at Fashion Week

Rosario Dawson is one of the loveliest and most underrated actresses in Hollywood (she was excellent in the otherwise dismal “Seven Pounds”). Rosario, however, isn’t the most fashion-forward startlet and her wardrobe selections, including this one, are often frumpy.  But this is nothing a stylist can’t fix — just imagine how glam Rosario would look in either Kelly or Angela’s dress.  My verdict: Regrettably, Not Hot

Monica Cruz

Monica should take a few fashion tips from her older sister Penelope. This metallic and lace mermaid gown might look passable on an 18-year-old at her prom, but it’s too tacky for the Academy Awards.

Rosario Dawson

Rosario probably thinks I’m picking on her (like she reads Hot Mama Daily). But it’s only because I like the lovely and talented actress so much that I want her to shine on the red carpet.  Here she looks like a bridesmaid who didn’t make her final fitting in this tight and wrinkled ivory gown.

Nia Peeples

I’m a fan of  Nia Peeples, formerly of the TV show “Fame” and currently on “The Young and the Restless.”  But what is she wearing? I wouldn’t wish this hot pink satin mess even on my worst bridesmaid or the cattiest prom queen.

Eva Mendes was a breath of fresh air at the red carpet premiere of her new film, “The Spirit.” The gorgeous Cuban actress has always reminded me of a cross between Cindy Crawford and Sophia Loren, and she looks absolutely stunning in this bold yellow, flower-accented gown from Bill Blass’ Spring 2009 collection.  

Unlike fellow Latina beauty Rosario Dawson, who…er… experienced a wardrobe malfunction in an ill-fitting, one-sleeved frock at this week’s premiere of “Seven Pounds,” Eva’s strapless dress flatters her curves and is a real show stopper.  Her upswept hair and matte makeup are flawless and make Eva’s Hollywood glamour gal look complete.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Rosario Dawson for Essence magazine several years back when she was promoting the film version of “Rent.”  The sexy Latina is even prettier in person and she’s super nice.  So I had high hopes for the native New Yorker’s dress selection for Tuesday’s Hollywood premiere of “Seven Pounds,” in which she co-stars with Will Smith.

Unfortunately, I’m not crazy about this one-sleeved, canary (or is it beige?) mini shift.  It looks like one of her sleeves was accidentally chopped off and it should either have two sleeves or be completely strapless.  The way it is now, the one sleeveless side oddly accentuates one of her boobies.  

I also think the color is too close to her honey skin tone, the hemline looks gathered, and the length isn’t formal enough for a red carpet closeup.
