According to NYMag.com, Project Runway winner Christian Siriano is launching his maternity fashion line in conjunction with Moody Mamas founders Marta Abrams and Elise Rosemarin.

What’s the line gonna be called?  Fierce for Moody Mamas by Christian Siriano and it will premiere Spring 2009.

Love the name.

I’m sure most of my Hot Mamas living in the southern U.S. states are well are of Pickles and Ice Cream (don’t cha just LOVE that name?), the fab maternity boutiques.  I just recently found them and learned they are the oldest and largest maternity clothing franchise in the United States.  They’re also expanding up north (Brooklyn, NY – they’re on the way) this fall.

In the meantime, I’m noticing that these celebrity Hot Mamas To-Be have been keeping it casual and light with maxi dresses and comfy sandals. Perfect for any stage of pregnancy and ohhhh soooo comfortable. I remember how “free” I felt in maxi dresses while I was pregnant. No restricting pants with restricting waistlines. No fighting with zippers and buttons when you go to the ladies room to go “tinkle”, you feel me? I knowww my Mommies do!!!

So you want a maxi dress of your own? I previously wrote about them as a Spring ‘08 trend and had found a few great options.

HMD Deal of the Day:

This Old Navy printed tub dress by far the best value out there (I will admit I’m biased b/c I own this dress! Bought it for my trip to Bermuda last month. It looks and feels even better in person). Besides black print (shown above), this dress is also available in pink print and green print. And only $19.99 USD??!? LOVE Old Navy!

Though Britney Spears is NOT a Hot Mama To-Be (that we know of–tee hee!–oh okay I kid, I kid…), I will admit she has been looking a helluva lot better in recent weeks and I simply LOVE the maxi dress she wore while out and about this week in L.A.

I’m seeing a pattern lately: lots of maxi (and mini!) dresses with ruffle trim on the skirt edges. Reminds me of the ‘gypsy’ maxi skirt/dress trend from the past few years. And me likey.

Maxi dresses are perfect as Hot-Mama-To-Be wear, as so eloquently shown recently by #2 favorite 2008 Celeb Hot-Mama-To Be, Angelina Jolie (my #1 being, of COURSE, Halle Berry–hey…speaking of Halle, she’s been quiet lately… Isn’t she due this month??)

Anyhoo, apparently moms-to-be are going crazy online asking about the dress Angelina Jolie wore earlier this week (at an airport in Austin, TX with her son Maddox). The dress is designed by Gerard Darel –and it’s from his Spring Summer 2008 collection (thanks Lainey!)  Click here to see more pics of Angelina in this dress.

Angelina ordered the first dress shown above in “Mauve”.  Check out the floral-print sheer one.  Angie reportedly ordered this one too.  *Blinks at picture* Wow… Is that dress on the right-hand side actually SHEER??? Umm.. okay… Cool, I guess? Sorry, but this Hot Mama right here couldn’t parade the street with that on.  Maybe for the hubby?  Ah, so maybe that’s why Angelina got the sheer one too?  For Braddy Boy?  Hee-hee-hee…But I digress…

Lord only knows how much the Gerard Darel dresses cost, but hey, you know I’m all for finding the Same Look for Less, right?   Fine.   I’ll throw in an expensive one for my luxury-budget Hot Mamas for good measure.  Now everyone can be happy.

True story: I only owned TWO pair of maternity pants during my my third trimester and they were both from Old Navy. I refused to pay top dollar for overpriced pants at maternity ’specialty’ stores. I simply refused. I bought one pair of maternity jeans, and the other was a pair of cordoroy maternity trousers that I wore often to work. I honestly don’t know how I survived on just 2 pairs of maternity pants (throughout my first 2 trimesters I got away with pairing long tops and SUPER LOW-RISE jeans which allowed my expanding belly to be free) but at the end of my pregnancy I couldn’t anymore. Besides, I could no longer get away with the low-rise jeans b/c I couldn’t get them past my thighs any-damn-way. Ugh. Whatevs

Oh yeah, and I also had a pair of yoga-type black pants. Godsends, I tell ya.

So whether you are 2 seconds pregnant or 7 months, invest in at least 2-4 pair of comfy pants, and remember: you will need them post-partem too! Trust me on that.

Seriously, I don’t think anyone had a (major) miss last night.  And from the look of things the only big names missing from last night’s event were Halle Berry, Beyonce/Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake.  Everyyyone else was at that party last night (except yours truly of course…*Le sigh*…OK, I kid, I kid…kinda sorta, but not really…)
