Hot Mama Daily’s Eau Flirt Giveaway!

Are you a flirt?  Then I have the perfect perfume giveaway for you.  Eau Flirt is the latest scent-sation from Harvey Prince & Co., the same company whose novel anti-aging perfume, Ageless Fantasy (Hot Mama Daily’s best beauty giveaway so far), has become a bestseller on QVC.

Eau Flirt was inspired by a study that tested 30 different scent mixes on male sexual arousal, and the researchers found that a combination of lavender and pumpkin pie stirred up the most passion.  The perfume’s bewitching blend includes sweet and fruity top notes, floral and spicy middle notes, woods and musk bottom notes, combined with vanilla …read more

Jaime Earl Organic Body Products

Organic has become the new millennium buzz word for everything from food to bath and beauty products. I was skeptical at first, but if you’ve ever tasted organic ketchup or slipped on an organic bamboo tee, you know that organic really does make a difference.  That is certainly true of Jaime Earl products.

I recently sampled the divine Bamboo Lemongrass Body Polish, which gently exfoliates dry, flaky skin with powered bamboo and walnut shell.  The scrub also contains sea algae and herbal extracts, and almond proteins that remove impurities and leave the skin supple and moist.  Each time I use it, it feels …read more

Zap Zits with These Acne-Fighting Tips

Zap Zits with These Acne-Fighting Tips

I love getting beauty and style advice from real women.  And I recently received an email from Hot Mama Daily reader Djuana M. Daniel of Naperville, Illinois sharing her anti-acne skin care remedies for women of color.
Djuana, a business school administrator, offers the following tips:
“I’m a 45 year old woman of color and have had challenging skin with frequent acne breakouts since my teenage years.
Over the years, I have tried everything from over the counter products to dermatologist prescriptions and I have finally found products that for the last few years have made a HUGE difference in my skin – Dr. Bronner’s Magic Pure Castile …read more

Hot Pick: Scents for All Seasons

When it comes to perfume, I’m a late bloomer.  And these days I love to discover fresh new scents. Bond No. 9’s crisp, floral “The Scent of Peace,” “Bryant Park,” and “Chelsea Flowers” are my favorites.
Like me, however, you probably have a girlfriend who’s a longtime perfume-nista.  So I enlisted the assistance of my always sweet smelling friend Simone.
Here are her top fragrance picks:
1) Narciso Rodriguez for her eau de parfum ($89, Sephora)
My sexiest fragrance ever… Men love it.  I’ve been stopped on the street for this one. It’s Modern, Feminine, Elegant and Sexy.  It has a unique blend of musk, pink floral, soft …read more

Nivea My Silhouette! Slimming Gel-Cream

I spent this Memorial Day afternoon watching “The Tyra Banks Show.”  And that’s where I discovered NIVEA My Silhouette! Slimming and Reshaping Gel Cream. I’m all about looking and feeling slimmer without going to the gym, and I’m curious if any of my Hot Mama Daily readers have tried this “magical” cream yet?
According to the brand’s website, here’s how My Silhouette! works:
NIVEA’s research developed a natural Bio-Slim Complex that combines the active ingredients White tea and Anise extract for a dual action of slimming & reshaping.

White tea slims down fat cells and prevents them from growing back.

Anise extract activates skin’s cell-metabolism which leads to increased collagen production …read more

Hot Pick: Liz Earle Orange Flower Hand Wash

Because of the swine flu scare, I’m washing my hands a lot more often.  So I had to find a cleansing hand wash that doesn’t make my hands feel dry afterwards (don’t you hate that).
Liz Earle’s gentle Orange Flower Hand Wash leaves my hands clean, moisturized,  and smelling citrus fresh. The British beauty and skin care company’s wash is infused with orange flower water, pro-vitamin B5, and seven essential oils.
To ensure my hands are silky smooth, after the hand wash I use  Liz Earle’s Hand Repair lotion ($38) made with echinacea, hops, essential oils, and natural vitamin E.

Do Skechers’ Shape-Ups Really Work?

Do Skechers’ Shape-Ups Really Work?

In April I wrote about Skechers’ “Shape-Ups,” fitness shoes that claim to promote weight loss, tone your muscles, and improve your posture without going to the gym.
To me it was a no-brainer. With a promise like that, I needed a pair ASAP. Luckily, the helpful folks at Skechers sent me the Mary-Jane style in black (pictured in tan to the right) to try out.
So I took my Shape-Ups  for a test drive across the Brooklyn Bridge. First off, I must admit they aren’t the most fashion-forward looking shoes.  They have an elevated sole — apparently that’s where the fitness …read more

Get Your Sexy Back in Beija Flor Jeans!

Recently I received a pair of Beija Flor Jennifer boot-cut jeans ($170; new for Fall) to try out.  The slim jeans are meant to flatter your natural curves, and although mine are a bit snug at the moment, that gives me even more incentive to lose that five pounds.
Beija Flor (the name means hummingbird in Portuguese) jeans are made in Brazil, but come in U.S. sizes 0 – 16.   Here, co-founder/designer Emilie Whitaker explains how her brand can help you get your sexy back (and accentuate your sexy back):
Hot Mama Daily: What’s the inspiration behind Beija-Flor?
Emilie Whitaker: My friend Katherine and I went …read more

Spark Your Youth with Yarok Hair Oil

I love it when I re-discover products in my own “beauty closet.”  Over the weekend, I washed my hair and applied the Yarok  hair oil I received in a goodie bag nearly a year ago.  The “sensory treatment for hair and scalp” is available in seven formulas, and I tried  Serum 7 “Spark Your Youth” ($60) —  a powerful blend of Avocado Oil and Yarrow that promises to replenish the scalp and foster hair growth.  The oil is fragrant and added needed sheen and softness to my hair.
Yarrow Oil is often prescribed for dry skin conditions and Avocado Oil is a …read more
