Benefit Cosmetics: Moon Beam

When I was applying Moon Beam, my youngest son was in the bathroom watching me…because I can never seem to get away from the kids…he began to laugh at me as he thought I was putting nail polish on my cheeks. It is kind of funny that the product really does look like a bottle of nail polish.
Moon Beam is a highlighter that is a natural golden pink. While the site says it works best on olive, tan and darker skin tones, it made my pale complexion shimmer. I made X’s at the apple of each cheek as the box recommended and then blended with my finger tips. I believe this is a product you can wear all over your face, but since I am shiny to begin with, I decided I would use other products to tone down the shine on most of my face, but leave Moon Beam on my cheeks.
I also did a little trick they mention, which is making a line down your nose and only blending the product vertically. It said it would give you the appearance of a slimmer nose, and what’s so funny is that it works. I hate my nose, so you can bet that I have been implementing this little trick everyday.
For my pale skin the look wasn’t in your face noticable, but nonetheless, I still liked the less than dramatic glow it gave me. I would be interested to hear from anyone else who has used Moon Beam, especially those with olive, tan or a darker skin tone. What did you think?
I love Moon Beam, and like you I am really fair skinned. I got a small one of the High Beam in the Realness of Concealment kit, and while I do like that, I just like the Moon Beam so much better.
how do you do that nose trick? please teach me how.=)

There’s not much to it. ;) You just swipe the applicator down your nose vertically, make sure you don’t use a ton of product, and then you rub it into your skin vertically (not over your entire nose). It creates a shimmer and put the focus on your nose in a vertical way, giving the illusion of a slimmer nose. :)
do you swipe it at the bridge of the nose or on the sides of the nose? =)
Just one swipe from bridge to tip. Then rub it in it moving your finger from bridge to tip–so don’t rub it in across your nose sideways. You only want it to shimmer in a “stripe” if you will. Once your makeup is complete, it obviously don’t look like you have a stripe on your nose. The effect is to keep the eye focused on your nose length-wise and not width-wise.
i use the moon beam on my brow bone, done my nose and…my cupids bow! it gives a nice glimmer and makes my mouth look slightly more plump. my face also gets shiny pretty, so i guess i have a certain “glow” already -_-
I’ve seen this in stores and was thinking about purchasing it, but was unsure how to use it. Maybe I’ll pick it up next time.
Benefit Cosmetics makeup has never worked well for me. I don’t know why since everyone else is always praising them.
I’d never seen this before now and am now obsessed w/ the prospect of hunting it down on eBay. Wow. A polishing illuminator, I am blown away. Seriously. It’s like they took all the shimmer out of MAC’s Hyper Real Foundation and put it in its own little bottle.
