Before i started reading all these how-to blogs, I would always do the smokey eye look with only dark colors. I never knew how important a good base and light higlighting colors were! A tip I would add is to put extra powder underneath your eyes to catch all the excess powder that will come from the black shadow. This way you can brush it off when your done and you'll be left with a nice, lightly powdered face! That tutorial seems to be right on the money. It's easy to go overboard when you're blond and have very fair skin....I think the grey suggested would work well though.
