Curling Your Lashes with Heat

I’m a big scaredy cat when it comes to curling my lashes. Period. But “double” curling them with the addition of heat? Yikes! Personally I have zero interest in putting heat near my eyeballs or taking the chance that I will fry my beautiful long lashes, but I know that there are those of you who are a better woman than I am and will go to any lengths for beauty. To those about to (heat) curl your lashes–I salute you.
Artemis Woman’s Double Curl Gentle Heat Lash Curler ($24.99) will be available this summer and is a battery operated heat lash curler. The lash pads turn from orange to white to indicate that they are ready and you hold the curl in place for 20-30 seconds to achieve the perfect heated curl (that is said to last all day).
Sephora’s Professional Heated Lash Curler ($16) looks less scary (which doesn’t necessarily mean it works or doesn’t work). You work it through your lashes as you would a mascara wand holding it for a few seconds longer than usual to allow the heat to set the curl in the lash.
Panasonic’s Heated Eyelash Curler ($10.95) seems to have mixed reviews on Amazon. Looks small like a tooth brush with a bristle type head.
So what’s your say? Have you tried heat curling your lashes? Does it work? Does it hurt? Which lash curler do you find works best?

I have a heated eyelash curler but I rarely use it. What I do is take my regualr lash curler (Tweezerman brand) and run it under hot water for a few seconds to warm it up and then curl my lashes. Works better than the heated one and this way you can control the heat. A nice safe option for those who fear heat near their eyeballs.
I was like you, afraid to heat curl my lashes. But as I got older, my lashes need a little more oomph to make them stand out. I tried the Artemis Woman Double Curl (it’s available on their website – http://www.artemiswoman.com) and I really like it. Once I got used to using it, it wasn’t so intimidating. My lashes look great!
I used to heat mine with a hair dryer. Then my husband rewired the house. The hair dryer works better now, but it wasn’t a pleasant surprise. I may have to try Max’s tip.
My lashes won’t hold a curl when damp (eg, right out of a shower, or right after washing my face). I use the Panasonic to ‘dry’ my lashes & Japonesque (exactly like Sephora’s) to curl my lashes & my poker straight Asian lashes will stay curled over 12 hours. Why 2 different heated curlers? Because the Panasonic is a lot warmer. It’ll ‘melt’ the mascara off my lashes. Oh yeah, invest in rechargeable batteries!
