Flawless Finish: Le Metier de Beaute

While I’m generally a proponent of the ‘less is more’ approach to foundation, occasionally my skin requires a bit more (literally.) On those days, I inevitably turn to Le Metier de Beaute’s Classic Flawless Foundation.

La Metier de Beaute FoundationThough Neiman Marcus describes this as “lightweight,” that describes more the texture than the coverage.  A little goes a long way with this cream formula, which includes Vitamins A & E, so apply just a wee bit to begin and focus on the areas of your face where you need the most coverage (for me, that’s under the eyes and on the chin). It blends beautifully and gives a really natural, effusive look, especially when applied with fingers as opposed to a brush or a sponge.

I’m pleased to report that the Classic Flawless Finish Foundation also includes SPF 8 – of course, you should aim for at least SPF 30 on your face, but should you inadvertently forget sunscreen one morning, you’re covered.

Snag your own bottle at the Neiman Marcus link above or visit www.lemetierdebeaute.com for a store locator.

    HELP – foundation/tinted moisturizer for +50
Age 52 looking for foundation or tinted moisturizer that is not too heavy and therefore makes a woman over 50 look older. A makeup artist in Bergdorfs applied Le Metier de Beaute soft touch tinted moisturizer . I liked the product but was put off by the price and not sure if it had enough coverage for winter skin. Also liked your description of Koh Gen Doh Moisture Foundation on the splendicity website but this is not available in a retail store that is close. I am confused as to which product you liked better since you seemed to give both good reviews.

    Thanks,
    Eliz

Hi Elizabethe, I think the Metier de Beaute might be a better fit for you as it’s a tad lighter in texture. Howeve, you might want to consider a custom blend foundation or tinted moisturizer from Prescriptives (they are also at Bergdorf Goodman), they can adjust not only the shade (of course!) but the amount of coverage, finish, etc. I’ve always had a great experience there – ask for Matthew! Hope that helps.
