MAC Cosmetics Smoke Signals

smoky eyesSmoky eyes, done right, can look gorgeous. Although I have seen some people who just don’t get it and either look like a racoon or as if they have just been punched in the eye. MAC Cosmetics makes it easy for anyone to get it right with their limited edition Smoke Signals collection.

Smoke Signals comes with plenty of colors to play with to create just the right look to suit you.

Gentle Fume Eyes Eyeshadow X 4: A monochromatic quad of four modern cool-toned Eye Shadows in the sultry spirit of Smoke Signals. Features three limited edition shades: Waft, Gentle Fume and Rondelle.

Smoking Eyes: Eyeshadow X 4: A smoking quad of four warmed-over neutrals that at its deepest starts with a rich, dark black. Features three limited edition shades: Next to Nothing, Smoking, and Showstopper, complemented by Satin Taupe. (favorite!)

The lipsticks in this collection are very “peachy-nude” with the exception of Burnin’, which is a deep mauve color. My favorite is Barely Lit.

The tinted lipglass have a nice sheen to them. You can wear them alone or over the lipsticks for more depth.

I can’t even tell you how much I love the kohl powder eye pencils. I’m even using them with other MAC collections. Orpheus is my fav fav fav. It is brown with specs of gold. It is gor-ge-ous!

The powder blush is very matte without any hint of irridesence. Which is the way you want it with this collection, so that the focus is on the eyes.

Silver Fog in the pigments is just like those found in Rush Metal’s. Smoke Signal and Dark Soul are matte. I did find that they creased, unlike their Rush Metal’s counterpart which did not.

MAC has a page set up where you can recreate looks with the colors found in this collection.

Do you have any products from this collection? Which are your favorites?

The Kohl Power Eye Kohls are the best eyeliners MAC has ever created. I am in love with them and wear one almost every day. Such dark, luscious color!

I did a smoky eye last night for a friend’s birthday party, and you’re right, a good smoky eye is gorgeous. The bummer is that another friend of mine also did a smoky eye but she just had layers of black swimming around her eyes, pobrecita.

It’s so tricky to do a smokey eye, so the fact that they’re putting all the colors together us in a palatte is excellent. I tried doing a purple/black smokey eye and it looked like I got punched in the eye =/ Pretty in theory right?

I’m looking for a really good eyeliner right now, and you’re selling me on the kohl eyeliner!

I can never seem to manage the perfect smokey eye…I always end up going overboard and starting over!

Smoke signals was the best fall collection to me. It was just sooooo very alluring. I loved the intro video MAC had on there, I was so surprised to see Eartha Kitt (one of my favorite icons of all time) in it looking GREAT for her age. I liked the Gentle Fume eyes better than the Smoking Eyes though, because as the title says, it was gentler. Edgy as smoking eyes, but it just had a little extra something to me.
I still say Nars stole their spring Shanghai Lilly Collection from Smoke Signals.

    lust it
    love it
    live it
