Makeup Monday: Your Makeup Questions Answered

eye lashesIn lui of a reader question this week, I want to bring up a debate that is happening in the comments of my Max Factor Vivid Impact Highlighting Mascarapost.

One reader says that mascara should only be black, brown or blue-black. Others argue against it and also feel that cosmetics should be fun, which is disagree against by a reader.

It’s definitely been interesting to watch and I really think you should check it out and add your 2 cents.

What I want to know is–should mascara only be black, brown and blue? I’ve worn Besame’s Sculpture Lash and that was Plum colored. Are cosmetics meant to be fun–or worn only to enhance your beauty?

  1. I think the answer is both FUN and Enhance.
Plum is a fabulous color for mascara as long as it is rich and deep in pigment. So I suppose I have my limitations.

  2. It all depends on the occasion. If you are going to work at a conservative office, then go with black or brown. If you’re just hanging out with friends, then go with whatever color you want.

Cosmetics should be fun as well as enhancing. I don’t know about the rest of you, But, I like to mix things up a bit. I’d get bored wearing the same eyeshadows, blushes, lipsticks etc. Also, how I wear my makeup depends on my mood. I choose my perfume by my moods too. I have a variety of perfumes I wear. I have to change them to suit my moods too. Does anyone else feel this way?

Just wanted to add that mascara should come in a variety of colors so the gals that like the colored mascaras can buy those. This way everyone is happy! Eyeshadows, blushes, lipsticks, and nailpolishes come in many colors, so why not mascara too.

  5. Debbie says:

Although I’m skeptical of these color mascaras, makeup is supposed to be fun so why not have color. Is till haven’t tried them just because i’m not as daring and am unsure what type of shadow to pair it with.

My friend wore emerald green mascara a couple weeks ago, and it was attention-grabbing for me, makeup junkie that I am, but for everyone else it just gave her eyes that je nais se quoi.

As for me, though, as intense as some of my EOTDs can be, I always stick to the blackest blackie black mascara possible.

    makeup is to your face…
    as
    paint is to a canvas…

without all the colors of the rainbow the scenery becomes quite dull

  8. Ashley Samantha says:

Makeup should be both fun and enhancing. I remember back when I was a wee thing the 1st time I actually NOTICED makeup was when MAC had a collection out that featured highly pigmented lashes on the ads for the campaign. I can’t remember the collection name @ all, but I do remember being blown away by it.
I was glad to see Pat McGrath doing the colored mascaras with Max Factor. She is a real trail blazer and I trust just about anything that has her stamp of approval (even some of the Dior runway looks she has created!). She is both an artist and a businesswoman, kudos to her.
I may pick up the hot pink color, I’m still learning to play around with makeup but I do think it should always be fun.

  9. Kristen says:

for everyday looks definitely go with the classics, but who says you can’t go crazy and experiment when you go to a club or something. As long as it’s in moderation and you don’t look like a clown that is.

  10. yoyosushi3 (thu) says:

why not let mascaras be different colors? as long as the person wearing likes it, they should have the opportunity to buy it. i mean who wouldve thought black nail polish would have become the obsession that it is today? we gotta give these new products a chance y’all!
