  1. DermDoc says:

Try a cosmetic that is oil free (for obvious reasons) and has salicylic acid which actually helps to heal the acne.

I often recommend Neutrogena’s Skin Clearing Concealer.

  2. Elke says:

Ditto. The less mineral oil you can put on your face via cosmetics, the better (culprit of whiteheads/blackheads.) Also, blot with tissue after you’ve applied foundation/concealer to pick up oils as well so they’re not on your skin. Keeps makeup matte and stays on longer. Best of luck!

I’m able to cover acne, redness, and a small broken capillary on my nose by applying Bare Minerals with a foundation brush, after I’ve already applied the Bare Minerals.

If I have a larger area to cover I usually use a flocked sponge to apply the minerals instead of a brush.

You might be able to get the same effect with other mineral foundations, but most of them that I’ve tried haven’t had enough coverage to cover the broken capillaries.

I have the occasional acne redness too, and deep undereye circles and I use Lancome’s liquid concealer. It’s waterproof and yet it doesn’t irritate my skin. I use MAC’s concealer brush to apply and it works wonders.

After a long testing phase, trying expensive cleansers and whatnot, I finally found a winner — Clearasil!! It’s milky and washes away all my makeup without irritating my skin. Seriously I used to have annoying, constant acne and now it’s pretty much disappeared.

  5. Trisha says:

i like using clearasil’s tinted adult treatment. it is not too drying and gives a hint of color too, after i just use my mineral powder (i use MAC’s) over it & go. http://www.clearasil.us/creams/creams_adult.shtml

  6. Debbie says:

I cover my bumps with bare minerals as well. it works great and doesn’t irritate the bump at all. you should try it. Their products are amazing.

  7. Julie says:

Arrgh! I meant Cetaphil, not Clearasil, by the way, for the amazing cleanser. My bad, y’all!

  8. Ashley Samantha says:

I try using a concealer with acne fighting ingredients like salyclic (sp?) acid. I read about a trick last week and tried it (it really works), try taking a cotton ball and soaking it with eye drops that are formulated to fight against redness. Hold it against your blemish for about 30 seconds and it should reduce redness – the same way the eyedrops reduce redness in your eyes.

  9. Kristen says:

I swear by mineral makeup…it covers and it’s not detrimental to your skin so it won’t create more problems. Still use as little as possible though as I beleive the best thing for your face is nothing at all.
