Have you seen this new product from Max Factor called Vivid Impact Highlighting Mascara? It’s a new double ended mascara that highlights lashes and draws closer attention to the eyes.

Max Factor vivid impact

Here’s some makeup tips on using it:

Application:

· Step One: Apply the basecoat from the very base of the top lashes to the tip, working the wand outwards.

· Step Two: Wait for the basecoat to dry (Note: if you don’t wait for it to dry the highlighting top coat won’t show up as vivid and will blend with the basecoat as opposed to highlighting lashes)

· Step Three A: Apply the top coat on the very tips of the top lashes and on the bottom lashes to create a highlighted look with a shot of color.

· Step Three B: Apply a few coats of top coat from base to tip on lower and upper lashes for a lot of color

· Step Three C: Apply topcoat on lower lashes only to create a multi-dimensional lash look.

Carmen Vivid Impact

Wearability:

· For green or hazel eyes – try Burning Bordeux shade to make the color of eyes pop

· For blue eyes – Try 24 Karat Brown to make Blue eyes pop and add a light, gold tint to lashes (need to emphasizes gold lightens lashes)

· For brown eyes- All shades work, especially the black and pink combo to make eyes pop

· For all – The most versatile is the black/silver combination when applied correctly above

This mascara is available at WalMart. Have you tried it?

This is hideous. Max Factor really blew it here. Everyone knows mascara is black, blue-black, or brown. Nobody wears all those colors. It looked bad in the 80s and it looks bad now. It is not refined, it is not current, and no-one is going to wear this. What a waste of chemicals. Feh.

To quote Blondie (Rip Her to Shreds)…

Yeah, you know her, “Vera Vogue” on parade
    Red eye shadow! Green mascara!
    Yuck! She’s too much!

u no if u dont like it dont use it but like me a teenager i use all their stuff and i love it i love neon so BACK OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Miranda says:

Geez..cosmetics is supposed to be fun..Who said mascara had to be black or blue.. It is supposed to be something fun..and it isnt the 80’s…unless you’ve already tried it…you can’t possibly know what you are talking about.

  3. horsyglass says:

i love the colors. To say that mascara is only black, brown or blue black…is well….hideous….lol
i wear burgundy when i have on pink or burgundy eye shadows….green when i wear brown or green shadows…etc….it IS FUN!!!!! i love these!!!!

  4. Netochka says:

Actually, no, cosmetics are not primarily supposed to be “fun.” Cosmetics are primarily supposed to enhance one’s beauty and appeal. And clashing, unnatural colors do not appeal to women who want a refined and sexy look.

Yes, painting on crazy colors can be fun when you’re under 21, but these colors are sort of weak even for that. They’re not as outrageous as MAC colors, not strong enough to be club kids makeup. They’re more like lower-class teenage mall-rats style. And I predict that they won’t find much of a market for this.

  5. horsyglass says:

i am not 21, i have been wearing makeup, mostly conservative, the majority of my life. But there IS a time for FUN. There is a time for just a bit to enhance. There is a time for very little. And they are as strong as MAC, which i have used these with, they are a bit more fun then URBAN DECAY, but for the Drugstore brand, they are what they are FUN. And they can make a bit of a statement without looking trashy…but it takes the right type of woman to pull it off. The EYES have it.

  6. Nyfllady says:

I was excited when Wal-Mart FINALLY got this mascara in! I saw it in a magazine (as their favorite new product) and I thought it looked interesting. I’ve waited 2 months to buy it and can’t wait to try it today. The two previous commentators obviously come from different spectrums – one is ultra conservative and the other is more liberal. I think makeup can be BOTH fun and an enhancer. I think there is a market for this and that before one makes a judgement about it spend the $8 on the tube and try it yourself – if only the basic black with silver or brown w/ gold.

  7. Niki says:

Make-up is a form of art, a way to express yourself and your qualities. If you don’t like it or if it does not appeal to you then fine don’t buy it and don’t wear it but don’t judge it unless you have tried it, and don’t judge others for being able to pull the look off. Colors are expressive, I prefer to wear bright colored mascaras and have been way before these came along and now I have more colors to play with ;)

  8. Cynthia says:

I am going to try this. I like wearing blue mascara, so I think I will try the blue with the pink highlights. I love eye makeup and I am willing to give this a shot! I love experimenting with different makeup looks so this will be right up my alley! I even went to Walgreens today but evidently the Walgreens in my area doesn’t sell Maxfactor. So, I will have to see if Walmart has this. Cosmetic companies are always copying each other. Watch the other makeup companies come out with their brand of highlighting mascaras! Just like they all have mineral makeup now!!

  9. Mistyrain419 says:

I just bought the burning bordeaux and I love it. I have green eyes and it enhances them wonderfully. It’s not clumpy and it goes on really smooth. Of course, it may look really great on longer eyelashes. Mine are virtually non existant. Give it a try, I think you’ll love it!

  10. Cynthia says:

I went ahead and bought 2. I decided on the blue with pink highlights and the black with silver. I really had a hard time choosing. My eyes are brown and I thought the bordeaux or the brown with gold highlights might compliment my eyes. If I like the two I chose, I might go back and get the other two. I got the blue because I’ve always liked blue mascara and I love silver eyeshadows a lot, that’s the reason I chose the black with silver highlights. I don’t see any reason why you couldn’t mix and match. Maybe use the blue mascara with the silver highlighter, etc. Can’t wait to use them. I also noticed that Almay has colored mascaras. I even bought a green mascara from Almay. Almay even has purple and a burgandy mascara. I just love trying out new beauty products.

  11. cea says:

i wear both the brown with gold and the burdeaux with pink…i get many compliments at my job where i wear it often….i am a personal trainer….

  12. cynthia says:

I tried the blue with pink highlights today. This blue is more of a black-blue not really a bright blue like Maybelline Great Lash in Royal Blue. This mascara really looks great without the pink highlights. But, I had to try out the highlights to see how I would like it. I like the highlights. With the combination of blue and the pink it almost seemed like my mascara was a shade of purple on the tips. Quite pretty if I do say so myself. I think it suits my brown eyes. I know this mascara is for me because I love makeup and I love experimenting with different makeup techniques. I would buy this again because it works for me. I’ll probably try the other colors too. To be able to wear this and like it you have to have the personality for it. Anyone that likes colored mascaras should like it too.

I noticed that Maxfactor’s eyeshadows are quite unique. Has anyone tried those yet? They look fun and I may try the eyeshadow sometime when I decide to makeup shop again.

  13. Debbie says:

Make up is fun. This is what it’s all about. I think some of you are a little too conservative about it.

  14. Nona says:

Makeup is really a form of art and expression [this coming from an artist and looking-to-be fashion designer]. You want the best impact and first impression you can possibly get. These colors don’t clash in any way; if you want to create impact, you need complimentary colors, or a combination of cool and warm tones. I personally love these mascaras…the 24 karat is definitely the best for blue eyes. I have three of these already [mascara junkie here] because I use my eye make-up as a way to express my artistic self. I also mix and match the trio eye shadows to create new looks, and I get compliments every time! :)

  15. Ashley Samantha says:

If you don’t like it, don’t buy it – it’s as simple as that. I personally believe this is a cute and fun way to funk up your look. I’m supportive of it. And I mean, who can dictate what you’re supposed to use makeup for? It is not the 50’s anymore- experimenting with colors do not make you a tramp, or trashy. Personally, I believe any makeup artist worth his or her brushes should be able to display some artistry beyond a basic face.

  16. Kristen says:

that’s quite a few steps..not sure this look can be pulled off in real life either. Carmen Electra looks a little like a cirque du soleil performer in the ads.

  17. Trisha says:

wow what a debate! i think makeup should be whatever you want, a little bit for everyone. step outside the box a bit, it tends to get a bit cramped in there ;-)

  18. yoyosushi3 (thu) says:

i think we can all agree that we just love makeup right?? shoot, why else would be lurking around all these beauty blogs? :) as for the mascara, i really wanna try the pink and black one! i am all for anything that will jazz up my dark brown eyes.

  19. Lalaylah says:

    i’m so excited for these!!
i LOVE colorful eyeliner and now i can have colorful eyelashes too!!
i can’t wait to go to the store and buy some. [and come on, where's the fun in just black, brown, and blue???]

  20. red says:

just wanted to say , i think the mascaras are great . if you dont like them , thats fine .you dont have to try them. but dont try and make it sound like others are crazy for trying them, everone has there on taste in things. dont knock it till youve tryed it, it doesnt matter what anyone thinks as long as you like it thats all that counts.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

  21. Cynthia says:

Sometimes I wear the blue without the top pink coat. Today, I wore the blue with the silver highlights just on the tips of my lashes. I really like this product. I purchased two and I mix and match them for fun. Today I used the silver topcoat sparingly on the tips of my eyelashes. On days I’m feeling more bold, I wear more. I want to try the mascara with the gold highlights. I might as well buy everyone they make. My makeup bag is overflowing!

  22. Christy says:

I just wanted to say I couldnt wait to get this and try it. Since I love wearing blue mascara already. LOVE IT SO MUCH……..

  23. Kelly says:

So, I have a question. Would this mascara really be appropriate for like a highschool student to wear to school??

  24. Cynthia says:

There shouldn’t be a problem for anyone in highschool to wear this mascara. It’s colored mascara with a different color to highlight the tips of the lashes. Go easy on the highlighter for a more ‘’soft” look. The more highlighter, the more ”vivid” the look. I like the silver highlighter better than the pink.

  25. Cynthia says:

Has anyone tried to use just the highlighter on their lashes instead of the base coat and then the highlighter? Maybe I should try this on a day I’m not going anywhere to see what happens.

  26. cemeterygirl says:

i love using bright vivid colored eye shadows, so i love the new maxfactor mascara, i havent tried it yet and i hope walmart has it!!!! makeup should be fun and experimental, why else would they make all these colors

  27. jade says:

how much is this mascara by the way…and where can i get it?? x

  28. Claire says:

This mascara doesn’t work. The pink one doesn’t leave any colour.

  29. Wendi says:

I love the new mascara! I bought a bunch of different ones and have worn them every day to my law firm. I usually wear very conservative makeup, but this new line of BRIGHT colors (the eye shadow duos and the mascara duos) have really brought out the FUN in me and I have actually enjoyed applying makeup again!!! I have received so many compliments – from my husband, best friend, co-workers, etc. about how awesome my eyes now look! THANKS MAX FACTOR for rockin’ my eyes!!!!

  30. Faye says:

I think it is cool. You can put on different colors on different days to express the way you feel. It is a way to be different without being drastically different.

  31. casey says:

it doesnt work it just clumps up .granted the colors are pretty it would be super cool if it did work but it so doesnt and i just bought it lastnite.

  32. Kaile says:

Just because some of you up-tight brats are too closed-minded to accept another girls creative beauty doesn’t give you the right to scrutinize them for wearing what they want. I’m 19 years old and like wearing ’styles’ from all ends of the spectrum. If a girl wants to add some life to the popular DRAB look, then have at it, sister. I’m an apprentice electrician, and I wear all kinds of color to the job site. And you know what? I get tons of compliments on how nice my makeup looks and how great it is to see someone that’s not afraid to try something different. So, shine on my colorful counterparts. Don’t let the negative Nancy’s get in your way of expressing your true beauty.

  33. Amanda says:

I love this mascara. I already have long eyelashes and this is the icing on the cake!! If you want the highlight color to be bold you need to apply at least two coats, otherwise its very subtle.

  34. Leslie says:

The base mascara rocks! I use it without the highlighter. I’ve never found such an excellent mascara to wear everyday (and I’ve tried nearly everything for 20 years). The base makes my lashes the longest ever and there’s no clumping. I want to rush to the store right now and stock up, in case they stop making it.

  35. Eloisa says:

I do like to try new things people its 2009 not the “80s” and this is whats in i bought every color except the blue with pink i do agree some dont show however if you are in the sun it will bring out most of them, i also bought all the vivid impact eyeshadow duo’s and love them as well i wouldnt say the gold works with me i have fair skin so its a little to much. However i do think its a great product. I do think makeup should be something to have fun with.
